Chrono Trigger: When everyone was saying their goodbyes and returning to their own time, I felt an immense sense of satisfaction and a little sadness. Then Chrono's mom comes running in saying that I forgot to feed my cats (which was bull! I fed those cats everytime I was in town!!) and they all ran into the last time gate. Everyone piled into Epoch time machine for another adventure through time. As the ship traveled through the ages, we get a glimpse of all of our friends and their lives after the adventure. The whole thing was set to absolutely perfect music. It gave closure, left the door open for a sequel (damn you, Squaresoft!), and in my opinion, was absoulutely perfect.
Metal Gear Solid 3: The best story in the series featured the best ending in the series. It kicks off with quite possibly the most intense action movie-like boss fights to date (Volgin, the Shagohod, and finally, The Boss) as it built towards its stunning conclusion. Then, it changed the mood and showed the human side of things. The true reason why Boss did what she did. One last confrontation with Ocelot. A moment of intimacy with Eva. The groundwork for one of gaming's best series was laid bare. I went from hating that bitch, The Boss, to actually fighting back tears as Naked Snake (who instantly became my favorite Snake--beating out Solid Snake whom I'd been playing as since 1987) stood at her grave site and saluted. And then, the credits rolled. A song called "Way To Fall" started playing and all I could think of one thing: "This is the greatest video game I have ever played."
"I need to be alone, while I suffer."
