Forums - Gaming - What's your favortite video game ending(s)? (WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS)

Threat title is self-explanatory. Post your favorit video game endings.

Mine would have to be the Halo: Combat Evolved ending. Master Chief manually causes the Pillar of Autumn's fusion reactors to begin to melt down. No lame boss fight, but a cool and intense Warthog race against time to reach the ship just before the ring world is destroyed.

that epic god of war 2 ending. and why is a canada goose starring at me me! weird

The end to Crysis was pretty damn epic. Thank God the final boss was actually difficult too.

You're on an aircraft carrier, you fight off this massive alien warship single handedly, both of your ships blow up, and you take a plane off the ship with Helena Rosenthal. Epic.

The end of Final Fantasy VI

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Chrono Trigger:  When everyone was saying their goodbyes and returning to their own time, I felt an immense sense of satisfaction and a little sadness.  Then Chrono's mom comes running in saying that I forgot to feed my cats (which was bull!  I fed those cats everytime I was in town!!) and they all ran into the last time gate.  Everyone piled into Epoch time machine for another adventure through time.  As the ship traveled through the ages, we get a glimpse of all of our friends and their lives after the adventure.  The whole thing was set to absolutely perfect music.  It gave closure, left the door open for a sequel (damn you, Squaresoft!), and in my opinion, was absoulutely perfect.

Metal Gear Solid 3:  The best story in the series featured the best ending in the series.  It kicks off with  quite possibly the most intense action movie-like boss fights to date (Volgin, the Shagohod, and finally, The Boss) as it built towards its stunning conclusion.  Then, it changed the mood and showed the human side of things.  The true reason why Boss did what she did. One last confrontation with Ocelot.  A moment of intimacy with Eva.  The groundwork for one of gaming's best series was laid bare.  I went from hating that bitch, The Boss, to actually fighting back tears as Naked Snake (who instantly became my favorite Snake--beating out Solid Snake whom I'd been playing as since 1987) stood at her grave site and saluted.  And then, the credits rolled.  A song called "Way To Fall" started playing and all I could think of one thing:  "This is the greatest video game I have ever played."

"I need to be alone, while I suffer."

No More Heroes ending was awesome and thought the intro was badass too.

Yep.  I got every single one of 'em.  In fact, I played through Chrono Trigger so many times that all of my characters were level "Star, Star" except for Magus.  But that one was the best ending (and some of those endings were joke endings or non-endings).  I got Chrono Cross, too.  It was nothing like Chrono Trigger.  It was a good RPG but a horrible sequel.  I'm not even sure if it can be considered a sequel.

It's as much of a sequel as any of the Final Fantasy games are to eachother.
