Devil Survivor had a lot of potential, but the game is very poorly balanced; it becomes unplayable later on due to protect quests where the player that needs to be protected somehow gets themselves easily killed.
Dragon Quest 9 probably has the best value of any DS game yet released.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those games. I found myself faced with the DQ IX, SoulSilver conundrum since I got SS half off when I went to get DQ IX. I didn't think I'd like the remake too much since I would already have played most of the game, but I'd say that it's been my favorite game from the franchise. DQ IX has kind of been set aside a bit, but is quite good in doses.
Primarily an RPG player but have interest in any game that will make me think.
