Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo President Wants Gamers to be Surprised by the Wii 2

I can wait for the console, I just hope it gets more 3rd party support than the Wii.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

If the sales of Wii continue dropping Wii 2 in 2011 is not impossible...

Anyway good to hear they have unique ideas, I think they'll have the same approach of the 3DS: a powerful console (more than the PS3) with something disruptive, like the motion controls or the 3D on a portable console. Looking forward to Wii 2!

Agreed on all counts.  Also like 3DS, I think you'll see Nintendo make major moves to secure significant upfront 3rd party support, with the core market in mind...

Wii 2 doesnt seem that far away with these comments. I suspect late 2011-early 2012

You can't really conclude what the heads at Nintendo are planning based on user comments.

Sure, I'd like to see a Nintendo console that I'll actually use on a regular basis with software support that includes the types of games that I buy and play, but when that happens has nothing to do with opinion.

But if sales of the Wii continue to stay flat or drop, odds are we'll see Nintendo's next console sooner than later.

Personally, I still think they'll focus on the initial release year of the 3DS before they divert any public attention away on a replacement for the Wii.

That's one of the main reason's why I want Wii 2 now, even if I'm plently of Wii games to play: I want to see people bashing the Wii before talking about the new console as a god on Earth, seeing all the greatness of its lineup. Nintendo understood they can't make another weak console compared to the other 2, but will never make a console different just in the design, like the GC was, their next console will try to be disruptive as the Wii has been.

An announcement at 2011 E3 is not unthinkable. Nintendo could set a preliminary date for Q4 2012 and delay it for Q1 2013.

This will take the wind out of Sony's sails because the way Sony is talking, they are expecting and wanting this generation to last another 5 years so that they can continue to chip away at that $4 some billion debt they incurred for the PS3 from 2006-2009.

don't you ever understnad that the 10 year cycle is with the introduction of another new console

obviously every console maker wants to extend it as long as they can

and if Nintendo announced next year and then delay it for 2013,Nintendo itself will be at harm

the 4$BILLION LOSS will be covered by alot like royalties,PS4,etc

and no Wii2 won't be early release any year, holiday release for sure

its not gonna be early 2012 or another year if it is then it will be holiday period

Well, honestly you can't blame nintendo, they get copied most of the time when they come out with something new and fresh. I have a feeling it won't be long before they announce a new home console i'd say by next year we will hear from it.

what does copying have anything to do with new console launch

wii will first get a price cut to $149

doesn't don't understand what you mean by portable

3D is already there so it wouldn't be disruptive

and 2011 wii is very much not possible as 3DS is coming and they will wait atleast an year after cutting to $149.They could have done it this year but they didn't

so 2012 release is likely and before 2013 for sure

3D is there but how much people has an hanheld device wich is built around 3D? Motion controls where already there in 2006 but Wii showed how they could be applied to videogames and turned them into mainstream. 3DS will do the same with 3D, so that every phone manifacturer or console producer will have to introduce 3D in their device, while now it's just some kind of add to systems which could live and sell without it.
