1:1 works if the dancer can predict the movements of the on-screen character.

Who cares.. if the game is fun it's fun! I'm buying Dance Central that Kinect has to bought with it is a minor issue..

In terms of 1:1 based on the hardware, I'd say that even though both Kinect AND Move may be able to achieve it, Move would have the better chance of a true 1:1, since if I remember, Kinect has a framerate cap of 30, whereas Move as 60, or maybe I misread, but I'd assume that a higher framerate would allow the camera to capture movements more smooth and allow for better tracking? I don't know, I'm just spitballing here, but we'll see how it all goes when both of these are released anyway. |
I have to agree, the idea of 1:1 movement as you following the dancers on screen doesn't really make sense to me. I think Move is probably the true 1:1 motion controller out of everyone.
what is he talking about? imitating someone onscreen isn't 1:1, will kinect have 1:1 games? i dont think it will, its for casuals, casuals dont spot lag when they are having fun, if kinect will have a 1:1 game released then it will be for hardcore gamers, because we care about silly things like 1:1, the wii isn't 1:1 and you never spot lag, a couple of times my movements weren't recognized but it was still fun, kinda(i lost :(), kinect doesn't need one to one, only reason people are bitching about it is because before the anouncment of kinect the xbox only appealed to hardcore gamers(ps3 attracted some casuals, im looking at you lbp and mnr) and obviously the hardcore gamers are on forums and some are staff of companies like ign, so when their precious ms offers them something which doesn't appeal to them they get pissed.
Being in 3rd place never felt so good
I don't think that 1:1 is really that important until you actually have an application which demands it. Right now im not sure if there are really any games which even require 1:1 movement to play. This game probably doesn't require 1:1 movement because the number of people who could pull off those moves with precision aren't enough to fund a games development. Close enough is close enough, you don't want to bury people with their own inadequacy.
Not sure what the fuss is about. It is a rythm game as much as Rock Band. You need to time your steps with what is on screen, meaning you are not following, but doing exactly what is on-screen at the correct time. There is a 1:1 representation of your body on-screen to the right.
And William is right, you probably would not want 1:1 in this game for gameplay reasons. Unless there was a difficulty level that needed it.
I think you guys have the idea of the game wrong. I think the character follows your moves (not you follow theirs) and you try to do the moves that show up on the right of the screen. If this is the case then that is the truest 1 to 1 we have seen as it is full body 1:1 not just a pointer. Granted I could be wrong, but the videos I have seen seem that way
@ WillianWatts )
uhm.. that's what "difficulty levels" are for - I want the highest difficulty to be able to tell if I still make slight mistakes
| Euphoria14 said: MTV/Harmonix has given its view on the debate surrounding Kinect's supposed latency - claiming that the Microsoft device can achieve true 1:1 tracking. The studio has created Dance Central for the device - a title CVG found to be impressively responsive (if excruciating) during a recent playthrough.

So hopefully there goes that debate. |
Sure...at 10 fps... :)
