Forums - Microsoft - Sexy Ladies can't disguise Kinect Live demo fail

This is MicroSoft, who was really expecting something reliable from them...only X360 fans comes in mind.

You could blame it on the flashes. You could blame it on the players not knowing what they were doing.  You could make any excuses to defend kinect. Or simply  you could just blame it on Kinect being a load of (censored ) that's more concept than substance.

no, you can't blame the players, because kinect was advertised as: "everyone can just step in front of it and join the fun, no experience required"

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

My guess is the flashing is interfering with the Kinect. We can't tell if the Move has the same problem because nobody cares. I mean... given that we see little coverage on the Move.

Anyhow, is Kinect being released in Japan for the Holidays?

why bring PSmove in this thread?

What does PSmove have anything to do with Kinect issue discussion? so what if PSmove isn't getting much attention? IT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT KINECT IS FLAWED.

BTW this is already on VGC news front page.

PS Move also uses a camera. So perhaps tons of flashing lights could interfere as well.

Obviously a room with tons of nonstop flashing lights is not the enviornment the Kinect is intended to be used.

here are no flashing lights, and from 4:25 it doesn't work so well either.

and i don't see why move is being discussed either.

For some reason it bugged out there, but it seems to work great for the most part. Its new technology, I don't expect perfection. I struggle with my god damn Wiimote all the time.

I mentioned Move because it also uses the camera. Perhaps the tons of flashing could interfere with the camera as well.

perhaps shmerhaps.

here is a video of some sneaky Germans trying to distract Move with a flashlight directly into the camera and they fail!

it's right at the start in the haircutting game

Kinect wasn't designed to be taken on stage with the flashing lights and intense atmosphere,

Your point? i didn't say you can't blame the flashing lights.

LOL In the 2nd vid there's a woman's voice at the end saying something about a pirated disc. The man says he doesn't know what to do and who pressed the button. Bet there were a whole lot of unimpressed people leaving that presentation.

Microsoft should really work out things that can go wrong with Kinect and either fix the problems before presenting it to the public or set out guidelines for the event managers to minimize the risk/damage. They're only hurting themselves by rushing to show off the tech before it's solid.

Currently playing: Gran Turismo 5
Just finished:
Infamous 2

There are too many independant sources that confirm that Kinect has issues even without camera flashes.  Game journalists have been taken into private areas for hands on play-time and experienced similar issues.  This is a problem with the device itself or its software.  Perhaps the issues aren't as bad under those conditions, but the issues shouldn't exist to begin with.  Period.  Especially sicne there is no guarentee that private users won't have similar lighting issues for one reason or another.  They still have a little bit of time to fix the problems, but the liklihood of it actually being 100% by launch day is incredibly slim.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Not quite the same as tons of flashing lights engulfing the people playing.

But the hair cutting game isn't even tracking the people. It just follows that ball on the Wiimote Movemote.

of course it's different, it's always different, it's never the same, is it? it's only the same if you need is as example where perhaps the move could be distracted in a similar fashion in some parallel universe.

but i have yet to see a video where the Move fails, but there are plenty of those for the eyetoy  Kinect.

see what i did there?

Is the net going to be full of disappointed Konect customers days after the release?

Could be a PR nightmare if it happens, but there are already a million pre-prders so Microsoft may not care that much as they would have made massive profit very quickly,
