Forums - Gaming - What niche PS2 games are worth picking up?

Too many to count?

People've already said most of the stuff I was going to say.

And yes, God Hand rules, although it's not for everyone. I thought it was awesome, but I like weird shit.

Let me put it this way: If fighting five power-ranger-like midgets and a gorilla in a wrestling suit (who turns out to be a man wearing a gorilla suit) sound appealing to you, get God Hand.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

God Hand is the best action game from the last generation in terms of pure mechanics. That said, it will kick you right in the ding-ding every chance it gets. If you don't mind hard games and learning the ropes the hard way, get it. If you do mind, then run screaming from the room at the sight of its box.

Soooo, similar to Bayonetta or nah? I just watched a video and the guy was fighting power rangers. Am I going to finish the campaign and feel all warm and fuzzy like I was with Bayonetta is the real question and how is the game structured, like can I run around and beat people up or is it all arena styled per level.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

God Hand is made by the same company (basically) as Bayonetta, though it's Mikami as director instead of Kamiya. The story is an excuse to punch people. You'll run through linear levels and beat the shit out of everything in your way. It's basically structured like Bayonetta in that respect. There's an arena mode where you can get into different fights in an arena, but that's just a side thing.

The ending involves you beating up the devil with your bare hands. Take that for what you will.

I remember buying ico for 10 bucks at gamestop before it got so popular and the guy at the counter looking at the cover with this kid with horns and a stick and given me this weird look like is this what your buying.

So with the help of everyone in this thread I've decided to pick up God Hand, Silent Hill 3 and Persona 3 tomorrow. I'm also gonna keep an eye out for Ar Tonelico 2, Kingdom Hearts 1 and I'll probably pick up Odin Sphere at some point.

Shadow of the Colossos and Ico will have to wait for now and hopefully Sony have the sense to release a HD collection.

I'm going to pick up more PS2 games over the year and then kick start my Gamecube collection again or just set up an emulator or something. I'll also continue my long and dangerous search for a copy of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist of the Roses, I hate the anime, but I had a two hour encounter with the game back in 2004 and it hasn't left my mind since then.

Thanks for the help.

P.S. God_of_War_Forever you were wrong, Orphans pretty awesome. Just sayin.

Guys at Gamestop are usually wrong and its wise to avoid them and then mutter curses under your breath after they've asked if you'd like to pre-order Halo: Reach and you slyly say no. A guy actually stopped me from buying Folklore once and when I bought it a year later it ended up being one of the best games I've played this gen.
