How? It was only one Covenant member who fought with the humans, the rest continued to try and wipe them out. Or am I just the only guy who liked having the Elites as allies? 

Sweet! the game is looking gorgeous too.

Gears 3 is such an exciting prospect.

There must be several hundred hours of gameplay there for anyone.

Solo & co-op campaigns, Horde & Beast modes, online multiplayer. Incredible value.

This trilogy is definitely going to go out with a bang.

I would have preferred for us to team up with the Locust.

There is so much scope there for us to have an uneasy alliance.

Nonetheless, this game looks insane.

I just replayed through both Gears of War and Gears of War 2. Here is my take:

1. The lightmass bomb in Gears of War destroyed the outer Hollows pushing the Kryll to extinction, killing millions if not tens of millions of Locusts, and forcing the Locust to go underground for some time. The killing of General RAAM had major ramifications in making the Locusts incapable of waging a conventional war with the Humans.

2. In Gears of War 2, the death of Rift Worm and the sinking of Jacinto before the Locust were fully evacuated from the Hive has pushed the Locusts to the brink of extinction.

3. The Lambent are a byproduct of Imulsion exposure.

4. The Locusts were forced to war with the Humans because Human use of Imulsion exposed Locust to Imulsion radiation causing a third to a half of the total Locust population to become Lambent, therefore causing the civil war between the Lambent and Locusts, which was evident in Act 4 of Gears of War 2.

5. As of Gears of War 3, both the Locusts and Lambent will be killed off to an extent where they never pose a threat again or they will become extinct.

I have been thinking of a few things concerning the lore:

1. Is Adam Fenix alive? Is the Locust Queen using his audio recordings as an emotional weapon against Marcus Fenix so that Marcus will go on another AWOL mission and possibly have his entire squad killed?

   a.) Did the Locust Queen turn Adam Fenix into some sort of Locust King?

   b.) Will we see a moment as we did with Dom and Maria where Marcus has to pull the trigger on Adam Fenix?

2. Who is the guy with the beard in the trailer? Baird? Adam Fenix?

3. Will Skorge come back? If so can we expect an epic boss fight like the one with General RAAM or will it be another lame chainsaw duel?

We got robbed in Halo 2 because people who wanted to play as the Covenant wanted to fight humans, not yet more Covenant.

That really would have defeated the point of the storyline, fighting for the survival of humanity
