I giggled like a little school girl when I saw the link in the OP. XD

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

My thought is I am not buying a 360 Slim or Kinect anytime soon. For the Kinect price, I lose more than I gain.

Of utmost importance I lose the backward compatibility to play Fable, Halo, Halo 2 and on. An over hyped motion sensor camera and a few dancing games are not worth me losing the backward compatibility on the disc.

Do not come back and say "well you can buy it on Live!" because I have no interest in putting down dollars for the right to download a game. I want the ability to own the hard copy, the soft copy sitting on a MS server somewhere ain't my copy that I can play 10 years down the road when Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 has been discontinued just as the original Xbox Live servers for the Xbox has been.

Wait, what? Is this just for the XB360S?

Wait, what? Is this just for the XB360S?

Yes, the Xbox 360 Slim does not have backwards compatibility with Xbox game discs. Best you can do is buy them off of Xbox Live if you have a 360 Slim.

And MS is doing software emulation, not hardware? It should be practically free to them if that's the case.

Anyway, doesn't sound that bad, just bad, true or not. Kinect itself is 150€, 50€ more hurts more but even 150€ hurts a lot. To me, even Move is a lot.

Can you provide a source for the no backwards compatibility thing?  I have heard nothing about that.

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

That's the first time I've heard anything about the Arcade S having no Xbox BC.

Since the BC is soft based, unless the Arcade S is running its own specially debuffed OS, there's no reason why it shouldn't play original Xbox games.
