This week’s Famitsu has revealed a new, likely Japanese-only, PlayStation 3 game. The game, based off Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress, is titled Macross Trial Frontier. For those that don’t know, Macross Frontier is a Japanese animation that’s been airing in their country since late 2007. The False Songstress is a movie in the series.  

The game will have singing, three-tiered transformations, and skies full of missiles. All of the characters and mecha from the movie will also be in the game.

Speaking of the movie, that will also be on the disc, as well as other various clips.

Namco Bandai is publishing the game. It’ll hit Japanese retails on October 7 for 7,140 yen.

I'm a fan of the anime and so this is GREAT news for me :D TGS is gonna be rocking this year

Yup.  Anything Macross = Japan only.  Same deal with Another Century's Episode - R.

But it's Namco.  It probably wouldn't have left Japan either way.

I don't know why they even bothered to make a movie(prolly for cash in but still) since it was wrapped up pretty well. I just hope the movie doesn't fuck up the series as I haven't seen it yet.

Dude, if they make the game just as badass as the anime. It will be a first-day purchase for me. Unfortunately, no one in the US will see its epic-ness. Sigh....
