*yawn*

Kim Jong-Il knows perfectly well that America possesses enough nukes to carpet bomb his entire country several hundred times over. Empty threats, as usual. How that crackpot has managed to stay in power this long is beyond me.

He's brilliant enough to have outlived the Soviet Union by 20 years, with no sign of slowing down or internal degredation (though the problem of preference falsification means that outside observers will never be able to percieve how dissatisfied they are until it all comes crashing down)

Honestly i would *love* to have the opportunity to study with their Foreign Ministry or whatever equivalent they have. They've played a brilliant game for a pariah state with no committed allies, no economic recourse, and a population that's half-starved all the time. There's an underlying genuis there that belies the stupidity that you often see in their actions. By any estimation, they should've been conquered by South Korea by now, or at least been forced to become a Chinese or Russian puppet state for the purposes of protection, but they haven't.

It's partly a testament to their foreign policy (i.e. ignore all other countries, and occasionally point out that you have a nuke or two) and partly due to the fact that nobody really gives a crap about North Korea. If only it had oil; the US would have invaded a decade ago.

EDIT: Actually, firing a nuke at South Korea would be pretty good grounds for an invasion. But then the evil Godless Communists haven't been the enemy for 21 years now.

Hell, without the UN and its ridiculous five year reports and seventeen billion stages of moral condemnation and light sanctions, Kim Jong-Il would be hanging in Texas and Korea would be unified under a capitalist government. But that's illegal, so whatever.

While he was an awful president, if W. was still in charge I doubt North Korea would make this threat

I don't think it matters who is in charge of the USA. The only country with any real influence over N.Korea is China and even they seem barely able to stop them doing something suicidal.

N.Korea isn't going to nuke anything, they might test a nuclear weapon as retaliation but they aren't actually going to attack. Even they aren't that crazy.

Leave the east coast of the US alone! Nuke the west coast! THE WEST COAST!

A North Korean nuke would never reach US soil, they plan to attack Seoul, the South Korean capital.  If that happens that country and our relationship with them will be devastated.  Also China likes to back North Korea for some reason, it could spark an international conflict.

the us doesn't have anything to do with other countries, it shoudn't even have relations with countries such as quwait and south korea they have problems on their soil, obesity, drug problems gangs, and teaching the average us citizen about the world

You should seriously try picking up a History book and reading it.  America has plenty of things to do with "other" countries.  While we do " stick our nose in other peoples business from time to time " we generally help people more than hurt them.  You know, like feeding millions of people that would starve to death without us sending them food ( a gigantic portion donated freely ).  And no we aren't the most hated country in the world.

But yea I can totally understand how you would side with North Korea's leader who is an Insane lunitic that threatens us with Nuclear war.  He only kills or starves his own people to remain in power, nevermind.

I was wrong. THIS is the most hilarious thing:

Victorious July 27 of DPRK

Victorious July 27 of DPRK

The victory of the Korean people in the Korean War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) added a distinguished page to the history of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Day of great victory

When the United States forced a war on the DPRK, there were few people who thought the latter, less than two years since its founding, would emerge victorious in the war. (it didn't)

The US, boasting of being “the strongest” in the world as it experienced no defeat in over 110 wars, committed to the Korean front one-third of its ground force, one-fifth of its air force, the greater part of the Pacific Fleet plus troops of its 15 vassal states, the south Korean army and the remnants of the defeated Japanese army and squandered US$ 165 billion in value in those days.

The Korean War, however, was recorded in history as the first-ever defeat of the US.(the war "ended" in an armistice. Nobody was defeated)

During the three-year-long war three commanders of the “United Nations Forces,” all American generals, (quite a few of the generals were from other countries) were replaced and the US much-touted “invincible divisions” met their tragic end.

In the war the US lost more than 1 567 120 soldiers (note: the actual figure is 36,500) including 405 490 GIs and colossal amount of combat equipment and war supplies including over 12 220 airplanes, over 560 warships and other vessels, over 3 250 tanks and armored cars, over 13 350 trucks, over 7 690 guns and more than 925 150 small arms. After sustaining a heavy loss of manpower and materials nearly 2.3 times greater than it had suffered in the four-year-long Pacific War, it had no other choice but to sign an armistice agreement.

If I were to personify each sovereign country, I bet NKorea would be the retard.

America would be the bully, Germany would be the gay communist (socialist). Japan the workaholic nerd and China the str8 communist. Holland would be the hippy. Palastine will be the suicide bomber. Afghanistan would be the burqa lady. Sweden would be the blonde cougar. Africa would be the poor kid/orphan. Switzerland would be the banker, Israel the sly fox, Australia the weird foreign student and so on..

The US lost the Korean War, as our goal clearly became to defeat the DPRK entirely, which we failed to do. North Korea also lost, because they failed in their goal of defeating the ROK. China and South Korea won the Korean war. China kept its buffer and the ROK kept its freedom.

the us think theyr the kings of the world, they can go to hell, everytime something happens they have to go and put their noses in it, ahh why isnt russia powerful they were the only ones who could keep the us busy. no matter the us is the most hated country in the world.

I for one am glad that good ol' U.S.A. put their noses into Korean affair.  No way I would have been born and for my families in S. Korea to be living in peace, financially secure, and have the freedom to travel.

Unfortunately, I can't say about other relatives who did not cross over before the Korean War.

I believe that U.S.A. being the world police for past 100 years have made the world a safer place.
