Forums - Sony - PS3 exclusives lacking in offline multiplayer?

The PS3 has some of the best exclusives this gen with games like Uncharted 2, Infamous, Killzone 2, God of War 3, MGS4, etc. Most are famous for their single player or online functions. But are Ps3 exclusives lacking offline multiplayer in comparison to 360's exclusives.

The 360's best selling exclusives are Halo 3 and Gears  , both are AAA titles and both have offline multiplayer. It also has lower selling exclusives like L4D , Perfect Dark, Forza, PGR, etc with offline multiplayer also. However, when you look at the PS3 exclusives, the amount of offline multiplayer seems a little low. The online exclusives that sold well AND have offline multiplayer are LBP  and Resistance . The PS3 also has exclusives like Motorstorm 2 and Modnation Racers that have offline multiplayer, however they had rather disappointing sales. Killzone 2, a AAA title, could have been a lot better with some offline multiplayer.

Hopefully Killzone 3 has offline multiplayer. SOCOM: 4 has confirmed co op, but is it online co op only? I hope not. Speaking of future titles, the PS3 has LBP 2 and GT5 that will most likely have offline multiplayer. Twisted Metal and Motorstorm 3 also look to have offline multiplayer.MOVE looks like it will make offline multiplayer more common on the PS3. But will move be successful? I hope so. The future could be bright if games like SOCOM 4 and Killzone 3 enables offline multiplayer which the PS3 really needs.

What are your thoughts?

I'm all about the polished and powerful single player experience, so... All's well!

I think you mean the first Resistance right ?

Overall I agree. For me the best gaming experiences are co-op, so I always play Halo, Gears and L4D when I invite a friend or go to a friend's house.

Was pretty disappointed that Resistance 2 didn't have a true offline co-op like the first one. I even bought Haze, because I thought I don't own enough co-op games on the PS3.

Killzone 3 with offline story co-op would be an instant buy. But I could imagine it would be too much for the PS3 to render the Killzone engine twice...

I think that twisted metal might bring some fun offline multiplayer to it. Blowing up stuff is always fun. Online or off. :)

True, but PS3 does need some more good offline multiplayer games to become a more well rounded console.

They can do some fighting force style but I think move will solve this issue

LBP is the only one they have right?

And Resistance, Modnation racers, and Motorstorm 2.

I agree with you! PS3 exclusives need games with more coop offline.
