They said they'll support it til March 2011 at least.  They have yet to mention when the servers will actually be shut down.

I really hope Sony publishes the next game, assuming there is one.  They support their servers for a long ass time.  A company like Atlus just can't afford a money drain like that once the game stops selling, as small as it may be.

Yeah man. Atlus is so great I can forgive them this time, but I suggest everyone buy this game and play it asap. You are missing once in a lifetime opportunities for fun.

Maintaining servers for a game like Demon's souls is very expensive, Atlus doesn't have that kind of budget. Let's face it, they're no Square-Enix.

Indeed.  I've played the game offline at a friend's house, and while they tried to keep the experience similar to the online mode by having generic ghosts wandering around in place of real players, it's just not the same.  Everything feels so lifeless, and there's nothing like the tension of a Black Phantom on the loose!

Last Xmas it worked (connect, have the WT change then disconnect)  Never tried it straight from offline tho
