Forums - Sales - Wii sales to slump

I live in Canada and it seems that the wii is impossible to find, i have looked high and low for over two weeks now for one and can't find a single wii anywhere.  Will this lead to the wii being destroyed in sales this christmas by the 360/PS3.  There is less then 4weeks until christmas and i don't think consumers will be holding out forever to find a wii and they will buy a 360/PS3.

Do you guys think that the wii will suffer for just the short term or the long term due to no wii's being available, MS and Sony are really going to cash out this christmas because Nintendo can not meet demand.

Absolutely. You have never been so right. This is spot on.

Considering Nintendo is producing more Wii's than Sony is PS3's or MS 360's, I doubt we'll see the Wii outsold.

more the 360 as the arcade is only $30 more, $150 more for a ps3 is harder to swallow than $30

This sunday, go to Zellers 1 hour before they open and bask in the greatness that is the Wii ...

I believe it is against the law for a company to advertize a product that they do not have in stock and Zellers (along with several other retailers) releases their weekly ads on Sunday; this means that they will hold off on releasing any Wii systems until Sunday because they are leagally required to have them in stock.

Wii systems are available, though.

It's just, demand outrageously outweighs supply and they sell nearly immediately when stores get them (One store near me (in the US) got 150+ Wii consoles in last week and sold them all within a half-hour). With the 360 and PS3, it's the other way around. There's well more than enough supply, and not enough demand to sell them all.

Since the Wii is so hard to find, it WILL end up motivating SOME people to buy 360s and PS3s. But I don't think it'll throw off the sales that much.

nah, it will absolutely murder both of them even with shortages IMO.

I think it is hurting Nintendo very little. For the few people who want a Wii but get deterred because of the frenzy, there are MUCH more people jumping on the bandwagon solely because of the frenzy. Its the latest craze. It's the Walkman. It's Beanie Babies. It's the iPod. It's the Wii. The Wii is selling at an alarming rate. Don't be mistaken, they are making a ton of Wii's. There are just TONS of people who want them. So no, I do not think that the 360 or the PS3 will come close to beating the Wii this holiday season.

Well considering the Wii is still outselling the competition by large numbers I don't think not being able to meet demand is going to hurt them. Although it may help the others a small bit now that the price gap is narrowing.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said but I don't think you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

How bout some rebuttal Griffin. Or some solid predictions.
