subs for most animes but Air Gear and DB series, but I do prefer the english Sasuka voice over the japanese one.. the japanese one sounds like he is 30.

the only thing remotely anime that I can remember watching is spirited away, and yes, english subtitles were much less irritating than hearing the main characters insufferable yelling in the english dub.

Almost always subs...but for some shows like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun...I watched those with the English dubs first...they're not bad, and now I'm used to those versions...the Japanese versions just aren't the same to me.

I first hated Anime because of the english dubs. The characters always sounded whiny and feminine. It wasn't until a friend of mine introduced (as in forced) me to Berserk subed that I started to find myself interested in Anime. In fact I was entrenched for quite a time. So I've always only watched subed.

Subtitles every single time, because you can read as fast as they can talk. When translating from Japanese to English, they can translate as literally as possible and leave the dialogue as close to the original as possible. When dubbing, they try to match up the words to the lip movements, so everything becomes unnecessarily verbose, or vice versa.
