Sony has a good idea and the first people into the thread try to shoot it down. And don't give me that nonsense about TI building a prototype with no commercial use. We give MS credit for console online and we give nintendo credit for motion controls. Because they made it relevant in the market.
Time for hype
I like the idea but like it was previously mentionned, what about the spectators?
But seriously whoever created or thought of that technology first matters very little. It's all about the one who makes it appealing and popular just like Nintendo did with the Wiimote.
Now that's pretty neat. It would be a visual clusterfuck for anyone else, but this could be a real breakthrough for 3DTV. Instead of picture-in-picture, imagine two people being able to watch different channels on the same TV (though one would have to settle for closed captioning)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

" Also interesting is that the patent drawings show glasses with earbuds, like those old Oakleys. Imagine being able to get your own audio signal while you play."
That means you could hear only your sound when you play in split screen (like your footsteps and stuff).

I would presume the earbuds would be for seperate audio
Time for hype
That is quite cool actually!
I'd much rather have something like this than Move.
