Should VGC Endeavour to Track Move & Kinect Preorders / Ongoing Sales?

Track pre-orders only 3 5.56%

Track both pre-orders and ongoing sales 37 68.52%

Track sales only 7 12.96%

Neither. VGC doesn't tra... 7 12.96%

Total:54

Hopefully the question and options are self explanatory.

Wondering because there is a lot of speculation about the level of consumer demand (as opposed to media / gamer forum hype) for each of these products, but very little actual data, other than the much maligned amazon sales / pre-orders position lists. And we all pretty much know how much credibility people give to Amazon lists in this regard: attributes credence fluctuates depending on the product in question, the like or dislike the person has for the product, and whether the position on the list makes the product look good or bad

So, given the level of interest in the pre-orders and sales of these products (and the fact that many people see at least one of them as being a generation changing device), should VGC use it's considerable resources and retail contacts web to seek out and publish what appears to be the consumer demand as reflected by pre-order figures?

I would certainly like to see some objective and [as] reliable [as possible] data.

I'm down for it.

I see Kinect tracking being possible but if you think about move there are heaps of variables like differen't packs and add-ons what do you track every move component? just the main controller? if so what about packs of two etc. I mean with Kinect you buy one for one console, But with move you may end up buying a bundle with to move controllers 1-2 navigation controllers, then maybe another 1-2 move controllers for additional players etc that is a lot of purchases and how you track them could skew the data a bit IMO.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

I can't say how viable it will be. However its worth a shot if possible.

Well in that case, I humbly request Balance Board and M tracking. If its not too much to ask.

You mentioned in another that their will be some adjustments to the software numbers. Will these only be for the year 2010? And when will they happen?

Thanks.

I say track it all just cause it's what the site is, but personally this is an area I don't care at all about.

Track both pre-orders and ongoing sales

Excellent! Should be interesting to see them both flop...
