Forums - Sales - Will PS Move sell to non PS3 owners?

Doubt it, it would be like someone spending $20.00 on half a dozen nectarines rather than $10.00 on half a dozen Peaches, they are both nearly the same, the only difference is that nectarines are furless.  Heck someone sees wii bundle with Wii sports and sports resort for $199, by september Nintendo could annoncen ew bundles and maybe do a $20.00 or so price cut to Wii.

wooooah wooooah woooah.  Do not bring fruit into the console wars!

Other than that, I agree

I think it is to late in the console lifespan for an acces. to bring in many new customers.  Of course it will bring in some users (some Wii players who want an HD console/blueray player, 3D home console gaming, etc) but not enough to make or break the console warz.  If anything, the two new pieces of tech will make each company a good bit of money, but not as much if they were released at console launch.

I dont know, personally as an Xbox 360 gamer Im currently finding the Move Catalogue a lot more appealing that Kinect's, which in my opinion is rubbish (Im still waiting for Microsoft to do something to change my mind).

There are several PS Move games that appeal to me, while theres only one Kinect title that has me interested, and its still going by its codename, although Ill probably end up with Kinect Sports at some point. Will definitely be holding out for a price drop though.

I normally tend to avoid games that most would say are aimed at casual/younger gamers but I remember playing Ape Escape 2 several years ago while on holiday. If I was to get a PS3 and PSMove would mostly likely be giving that a try.

It just depends on the marketing campaign really....the usual core gamers know of it's capabilities and games so they have knowledge and reasons to buy it...casuals still doesn't know much about Move..I mean Kinect has been getting a lot of marketing push from MS recently..like a HUGE push....for move? :S have seen nothing still

that bundle is abit over priced at 399.. they should do a ps3 arcade or something, make a 40gb ps3 with move camera and game for 250

Nope.  And price isn't the issue, it's software.

I don't think it will sell too well to people who don't own a PS3 but I do believe that those who are planning to buy a PS3 for 300 dollars may be willing to throw in another 100 bucks to get an extra game, camera and Move controller.

probably not - i will put a lot of blame on marketing as their marketing tends to suck.

So you think Marketing will be the reason and not the high entry price?

move cost half that of kinect.

move is overall a better technology for the application of games then kinect or the wii.

move has a vastly better library of announced games than kinect.

and yet, kinect will undoubtedly sell better.

nope, i fear move (like lbp, uncharted, GoW, infamous, killzone, ect.) will just not resonate with the audience because sony doesn't know how to sell themselves.  sony has soo many great games and products and no one seems to know it. :(

I'm not talking about exisitng owners though, I'm talking about new ones, that will go for the console and motion. So the 360 is cheaper in that regard ...

Debatable on the 2nd bit.

I think sony have finally got marketing in the bag personally!

well, i'm may be taking a leap here as the price of kinect isn't set in stone but...

ps3 move bundle is $399 (which includes: ps3, move, and 1 game)

360 slim is $300 $150 kinect 1 game =  around $500, around $400 with an arcade

move is only more expensive if you try saying all move owners have to go home with 4 controllers, but that's not the entry price.  really, both kinect and move are priced pretty damn high.

the second point is obviously subjective but in the case of kinect there is only casual crap announced.  for move there is casual crap and core crap.  at the very least sony is casting a wider net.  menu navigation isn't going to do crap to sell to the 10 million 360 owners who are in the halo/CoD crowd.

I agree, everything you said is entirly possible, if the cheapest price is 360 $199 - Kinect $150 - Game $60 .. = $410, it'll be a massive fail by Microsoft.

The odds though, are in MS's favour.

The Arcade has been at $199 for 2 years now, with the slim, knocking $50 off the price really shouldn't be difficult when they're making the profit's they are. i won't dwell on it, but if Sony can knock $100 off when they're losing hundreds of millions, Microsoft can knock $50 off in 2 years when they're MAKING hundreds of millions.

If they don't drop the price of the Arcade, I'll be a bit confused tbh.

Kinect, yup could very well be $149, I don't buy much into retailers guesstimates, we'll find out how much it is in 4 weeks time.

Game - There will be one bundled, I think this is common sense.

At worst $410, at best Kinect is $99 with bundled game, and a $149 Arcade = $249.

Everything though, I mean everything, is just speculation. a 360 bundle could range from $199 if MS wants to go a lil crazy, to $450 if they want to be greedy.

Personally though .. I'm betting on a $249 bundle. Which I feel is at the top end of what a casual will plonk down.

Just want people's opinion on if and why they think the $399 Move bundle will sell to casuals, or anyone that likes motion yet doesn't own a PS3.

No trolling on the move or PS3 .. I'm interested in hearing some decent answers ...

I have no doubt in my mind move will sell to a casual crowd who already have a PS3 in the family as it's not v expensive, but to non PS3 owners, I'm more curious.

moves SW doesnt only cater to casual

as for non ps3 owners it depends how good kenict turns out if kenict turns out well than no but if kenict fails than i expect many of the already motion fans will want an HD motion controlled console and PS3 will be the only one to turn too

theres no $450 360 kenict bundle 399 is already set for the new slim plus kenict and i would assume $300 for the cheaper 360 slim and kenict its possible those prices could be 50$ less if 360 HW gets a 50$ cut but i dont see that happening this year
