With battery consumption, even though we do use rechargables, I prefer to make them last as long as possible. So I remove it when it's not needed. And, as we don't have many games that need it...

I leave it in unless I'm playing Mario Kart or one of the Resident Evil Chronicles games, since the wheel and zapper don't have room for it. Or any game that requires the Wiimote held sideways (NSMBW, soon Metroid Other M, NES VC games).
No. The Wii Motion Plus makes the WIi Remote approximately 1/8 th of an inch longer and leaving it on of Wii Remote and not the others would cause the feeling of inadequacy.
