Versions of Nintendo handhelds:

Game Boy

Game Boy pocket*

Game Boy light (japan only)*

Game Boy Color*

Game Boy Advance

GB Advance SP*

GB micro*

Nintendo DS

Nintendo DS lite*

Nintendo DSi*

Nintendo DSi XL*

Nintendo 3DS

*redesign

So in total, there have been 8.

That's not including all the colors they came in. If you count those, there are like 200 different Game Boys.

@ OP

Eh, I wish it was smoother looking. But I will most likely buy one. Depending on the price.

I count the Super Gameboy and the Gameboy player, too.  Also, they count four times, each.

im ok with the differing screen sizes, its not like its gonna cripple some games. but the lack of a secong analog kinda sucks....im still doubtful that this is the final form, though im probably wrong.

Hello,

It’s not surprising that you want to know more information about the Wii Vitality Sensor and the Nintendo 3DS.  Believe me, we are every bit as excited as you are to learn more about what’s coming! Unfortunately, while these products have been announced, a release date has not been given, nor do we know exactly what the Nintendo 3DS will look like when it does come to the market.

Having said that, Nintendo is very careful to only show a game, system or accessory when the developers are ready to do so.  Also, we tend to concentrate on showing off products coming out in the near future.  This means that you know as much as anyone else outside the development teams about the Wii Vitality Sensor and the Nintendo 3DS.  We just don’t have any additional information to provide.

Eventually, we will pull back the curtain and share all new and exciting details on our website (www.nintendo.com).  In the meantime, however, we appreciate your patience as development continues and ask that you continue checking the website.

A email from Nintendo I was asking if it was the final design.

Ugh, what's with different Nintendo Sources saying different things at the same time? -_-

For the people saying that the 3DS is yet another DS revision ask yourself this: Can you play PS3 games on a PS2?

Now for people asking for a second Analog, why? The touchscreen IS the second analog. Unless some of us have a third hand then yes, they should add a second analog stick.

Now, Nintendo loves to tease. I wouldn't be surprised if they did do a couple nip and tucks here in there for the final version.

Don't expect a 3DS Lite either as the system is already sleeker and lighter than the DS Lite.

I'm still a little confused. Does the bottom screen have 3D? That was never made clear to me.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

well I feel for the left handed players, but from a personal view. The bottom screen should be the same size :|

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

I think they meant the basic design is done they could play with the screens a bit for size or buttons say being the Nintendo 3Ds's shown at E3 were prototype's

The big screen on the top is the 3D screen. The bottom one is the touch screen (regular 2D). As far as I know, the touch screen is still resistive (activates when the screen is physically pressed) like the DS.

there gonna use something with 'ds' in it, because that brand is very popular right now. Expect them to do something the same with the wii's succesor... Wii Advance?
