Forums - Gaming - Can you get free Rock Band/Guitar Hero songs?

I'm not trying to sound cheap or anything, but is it possible to get free songs on any guitar hero or rockband game for my PS3? I want to get the newest guitar hero or rock band game coming out, both are very similar but im leaning towards RockBand 3. Looking on PSN, there are so many great songs but they cost $1.99 EACH!! Thats ridiculous! So basically I was wondering if I could download songs (pirate bay?) onto a usb, and somehow upload them onto my ps3. I've talked to a few other gamers on this site who have been wondering this too, so thanks in advance guys!

well, these songs are heavily code protected to make sure people with low moral standards like yourself can't do that, but I'm not sure if it can or can't be done - google the info yourself

still, I know a relatively legal (compared to your approach) way to get more songs for less money: account sharing (best made with good friends you can trust -> real life friends)

then again if two of you "I don't want to pay for content" guys combine both of you might not buy anything, so maybe that won't help you either

Rock Band has some free songs like GLaDOS - Still Alive and another one sung by Steven Colbert.

@ Snesboy )

These songs you listed in the PS3 version are downloadable (for free) with a dlc voucher that is included in new copies of RB2.

Apart from those there is "Still Alive" and "Charlene" and 4 or 5 more free Songs on the PS3 RB store.

How quickly do you plan to master all of the included songs anyway?

It's been awhile since I've visited the music store on RB2.
