Forums - Sony - Jack Trenton:puts failure of PS3 on early shortages and long unavailability

Another PS3 bashing thread.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

I love the inaccuracy in the title. Mentioning disappointment is not blaming the PS3 failure on it, just mentioning a missed opportunity.

eugene, you are fast becoming one sad pathetic user.

Yeah price tag and lack of really good exclusive games had nothing to do with that at all. Sorry but at this point when this guy opens his mouth all I can say is Oh Brother here we go again.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

Sony sympathizers, I call shenanigans!!

They had 1 million out the door by xmas and in only two regions, followed by being readily available at retail. This is just crappy pr spin for a really undesirable first year.

The 360 was effectively sold out in NA for the first few months(until about February). The Wii for a year so far. The PS3 was in stock and not that hard to find by xmas. Barely one month. The problem wasn't getting enough stock at launch, it was the price and lack of must have games.

Does calling someone a (fasting becoming) sad pathetic user make you a sad pathetic user? Does point this out make me a sad pathetic user?

Is Jack Trenton sad and pathetic?

Anway, Sony could have sold more if they had more. The had the worst launch I have ever seen. It had super high demand, a very high price tag, and almost no supply. Hopefully, Sony does better next time.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

"think the biggest miss for us was the launch, in that we had easily a million consumers in North America alone that wanted to get their hands on a PlayStation 3 ... and we had roughly 200,000 units to take advantage of that demand. ... I think that that was probably the biggest disappointment for the first year," Tretton admitted."

The PS3 was available in stores by Christmas around here.  After launch, most of the people ebaying the PS3 lost money on it.  Sony may have had a million people who wanted the PS3, but not a million people prepared to pay FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE US DOLLARS for it.  If a million PS3s were available in North America theywouldn't have sold.

Like I said -- they were available by Christmas in many parts of the country.  There was very, very low demand at their price point.
