I am very hyped. DQ VIII was great -- though I still needs to fight the final battle. Well over 100 hours spent on it.

I played and loved the first one way back when it came out.  And I can't wait to get back into the DQ (known back then as Dragon Warrior) world with DQX.

Rather than asking people if you should be hyped (Because they will all have different opinions and views), you should probably just go back and play some Dragon Quest games and come up with your own expectations.  Dragon Quest V, VIII or the recently released IX are all good starts.  Most people start with Dragon Quest V because its more story focused, whereas most Dragon Quest games are focused on exploration and gameplay.
