"But Nintendo has been making quite a few comments about a future console (quite a few more than they ever did in the past)."

That's a lie. People trying to discredit the Wii have been making those comments. The closest Nintendo has ever said is something would happen when they have an idea for it. So stop expecting anything by 2012. You're just falling for hater bullshit.

Why would I be referencing the negative comments about Nintendos new system from 'haters'?  I'm talking about stuff like Miyamoto commenting about the next system possibly having HD support or Iwata talking (at E3) about their next console possibly having 3D support.  And a whole list of mentions of their 'console in progress' by Nintendo execs.

Its obviously being worked on.  If it doesn't come out in 2012, oh well.  But 2012 or 2013, the point still stands.  The Dragon Quest team (Armor Project and Development Team Unknown) have a more strict deadline than on past titles.

What makes you think that means it's coming out soon? Don't you know new consoles ALWAYS start development IMMEDIATELY after one launches? All three companies do that. So you really got to stop assuming talking about it means it's coming out soon.

And if you paid attention to the 3D situation, that indicates a LATER release, since they've made it clear they aren't leaping onto the 3D TV bandwagon unti it's a viable market.

Wow, okay.  I don't know why you feel so strongly about this.  All I was saying is there was a possiblity that they COULD release the Wii sometime that early and if so, it could effect Dragon Quest X.

And I don't want to spoke the fire anymore, but frankly, tis all speculation all around.  True, all we have is rumors and comments from Nintendo execs to go on and 2012 might be too early.  But on the same token, that doesn't mean the Wii WON'T come out that early.  So I don't think you need to chastise me for bringing it up.  Especially since its not like I'm the only one who has.

I just thought you were going off the crap Pachter was spouting.

Trust me, I'm the last guy to listen to an 'analyst'.  Especially one who jumps on every popular trend he reads off the internet to base his opinions on.

My views are my own and I've been thinking the Wii was targetted for about 2012 for more than a year.  Based on game production schedules and comments from Nintendo.

Well the major reason I say they are waiting is that they need to prove Motion a viable gaming platform, and secure at least as good third party support as the DS had, in order to avoid another round of BS excuses from the third party developers to avoid the next system.

Plus the other consoles are trying to play catch up with Nintendo, which slows down when their next consoles are coming out, giving Nintendo more time to secure the Wii.

Never liked the DQ series, but for some reason I am in love with DQ IX right now and it makes me REALLY want DQX.

Hopefully it comes soon.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Considering how Japan's bottomed out for Wii, I think we could see it's successor there as early as next fiscal year (Q4 2011/Q1 2012).  Wii '2' might even be out before DQX (shades of PS2/DQVII)...

Please please let this game be playable with the classic controller.

If it's anything like other DQ games, it might just be playable with a sideways Wiimote.

This wouldn't surprise me.  Pushing Famicom-era nostalgia seems to be a winning formula for the Wii massmarket... they should do a yellow box too like NSMBWii.
