Polyphony Digital boss Kaz Yamauchi has claimed that GT5 offers "a complete online system" to gamers - and it's the first title in the series' history to do so.

Predecessor Gran Turismo 5 Prologue supported online racing with 16-player multiplayer - but Yamauchi says GT5 easily trumps it.

The jewel in the crown of the new game's PSN link-up is the Lounge Mode - news of which broke online last night.

It offers voice and text chat for up to 32 players, and allows fans to watch other people's races in real time.

"We're finally going to have a complete online system," he told the latest issue of OPM.

"What's really unique about the online GT5 is 'My Lounge'. You can gather here, you can race together here, and you can actually watch other people race from this room."

This feature sounds pretty familiar but no matter what it's a welcome addition to a very feature rich game.

finally catching up to PC, I approve.

Damn, it's just amazing what they are squeezing in the game. At one point you think the game can't get any better and then they come up with something like this.

Wait for Gc and TGS, I expect more

Sounds awesome, I am glad it's almost here. I've been stuck with only Forza, which is bad, just not competitive, nor hard. GT5 is for the hardcore, and they don't sugarcoat it ever. Cannot wait to gold medal all the tests in the license area. Those will be hard as sin, especially the later ones with only full-tracks, but I always do them!

This is just another feature that makes GT5 the best racing game ever, I feel sorry for people who don't have the PS3 cause they cannot afford it or what ever reason because they/you will miss a masterpiece of a game. No fanboyism, just GT always has done it bigger and better than anyone else, so till they prove me wrong, they're the gods of the racing genre.

Great news.   never been so hyped for a racing game.
