It's simply the best JRPG this gen. There's not a lot of competition though.

Seriously, I understand it's your opinion and that it will inevitably differ from mine, but are you really saying that FFXIII is superior to all these games?:

Dragon Quest IV, V & VI DS

Final Fantasy III and IV DS

Fantasy Fantasy Tactics A2

Xenoblade

Tales of Graces

Tales of Symphonia 2

Tales of Vesperia

Star Ocean: TLH

TWEWY

Mario & Luigi PiT and BIS

Pokemon D/P/Pt/HG/SS

Lost Oddesey

Blue Dragon

Chrono Trigger DS

Dragon Quest IX

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker & Joker 2

Fire Emblem SD and PoR

Final Fantasy: 4HoL

Disgaia: 1 2 ports and 3

Final Fantasy Tactics: WotL

and probably loads more I have forgotten.

Even if you  exclude the ports/remakes, IMO the likes of FF Tactics A2 and Mario&Luigi Bowser's Inside Story are far far superior to FFXIII

Anyway on topic, I though FFXIII was good but not great.  Nowhere near the masterpieces that were Final Fatantasies IV-VI and not quite as good but still awesome VII - IX

I only played Pokémon Soul Silver and TWEWY out of your list lol

But I'm still pretty sure FFXIII is better than all these games.

I can already confirm that Tales of Graces and Xenoblad are bothe better than FF13 unless the graphic style of FF13 is so important to you, I won't get my hands on Last Story yet obviously so can't judge on that part yet. FF13 is OK, but definitely not the best by far.

Famitsu says otherwise ;)

It's one of my favorite Rpg's ever.

Agree with best JRPG of this gen.

9.5/10 from me

Game is a blast. Only the side missions and the lack of traditional RPG towns suck.

It was okay, it had some very good highlights, especially on the character development part and battle system. It did have quite a good amount of faults too, but overall, I would put it into a top 10 list of JRPG's this gen.

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

I hate to say it, but this game made me realize I am done with the JRPG. Its to slow paced. This coming from a guy who still says final fantasy is my favorite series ever. Fast paced games have ruined me for Final Fantasy.

Wasn't the best FF, in comparison to this gen, I enjoyed Lost Odyssey much more, but strictly for its storyline. 100%'d the game in 135 hrs, end game was much more enjoyable then the full games experience; props on the battle system and combining flans with mandragoras *_*. It was basically as pretty as it needed to be to sell. Also, I like having a male protagonist in games, not Cloud with a short skirt lol

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

For me it's sits below lost odyssey.  It's biggest problem was the battle system, if they were going to go with a non-turnbased system they should have followed star ocean and given full control of the player.  The half turn-based, half reatime  just left the combat feeling empty.  Hopfully they'll learn from the mistake and either go full turn-based or full real time.  I would enjoy either of those options more than a hybrid system.

FF XIII - This game was my biggest disappointment this year. When the ps3 first came out the only reason I wanted it was to get the very anticipated FF XIII, but due to the price tag and not having a HDTV I didn't really go there until the wonderful slim came out, by then I had a HDTV so I was set ... borrowed a whole lot of games from friends that already had the ps3 and enjoyed my console very much.

Well when I got FF XIII and started playing it, from the start I didn't like the game I really didn't know why, I mean every other FF I had kept my attention from the get go.

So I think this game gets a 5/10.

And I really hate Snow Vanille Hope , I find these 3 intolerable and the story is so full of crap and Boring.

I wonder if something has changed in me and because of this I didn't really like the game and don't go saying that I judged it too soon because I gave it a chance with a second play trough.

Please note that this is my humble opinion and you don't need to get to uptight if you don't agree with it.

Famitsu says Dragon Quest IX is better than Final Fantasy XII. So, by your own logic, it is obviously not the best JRPG.
