Try to kill the multiplayer for Call of Duty and see where your sales are heading to. This is a win/win situation and he doesn't even know. He just wants more.

Why doesn't Valve ask to get money for XBL users, too? They developed 2 Left 4 Dead games and both sold well over 2 million. These games are basically multiplayer only.

Poor Bobby he doesn't understand he should be gratefull to MS to the point of ass kissing them because without X360 he would never get such sales for what is essentially one out of dozens of average shooters out there.

Anyway, after reading the story, its simply more propaganda for Activision's inevitable effort to devise some type of subscription based CoD service where they make 100% of the money.  In fact, he's talking about "gamer friendly PC's" and stuff that you can hook up to your television, so its clear that he thinks that CoD is such a strong brand that it can even support its own gaming device.

FOR THE RECORD, I'm saying that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the peak of the series for sales.  Its Guitar Hero III; Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3.  In other words, congratulations to Bobby on saturating yet another popular brand for Activision to the point where its impotent for growth AND chasing away even more talented developers.

I was behind Kotick a few months ago when the sparks were flying over the lawsuits with West and Zampella over control of the Call of Duty brand and unpaid royalties, but now, the  more Kotick talks the more I am starting to loathe him.

His interviews are a sign of him being head honcho CEO too long. How many other industries besides gaming do you know of where a person can retain CEO from 1991 until now? 19 years of absolute power corrupting absolutely.

Maybe they should make their own console then.

Activision of today is not the Activision of two decades ago. This is clear.

What is also clear is that the CEO does not understand that the game-makers are the real reason for profit. It is clear he does not understand the business of art or the art of business but rather understands the business of business where you maximize your assets and strip them bare (i.e., Guitar Hero).

The first step is microtransactions charges. Pay to play (a la an MMO) is the next step. And that second step seems justified if there is some investment on the part of the company. But without dedicated servers and added-value, it is nothing more than a cash grab without investment and it shows true greed.

If it were not for WoW, Activision would be in trouble. Somehow, Kotick has stayed away/been kept away from Blizzard.

lolol - i also agree with the general hating of bobby/activision. 

but on a side note; it will be interesting to see what this guy does with CoD in the future.  just because he doesn't have any legal right to MS's live money doesn't mean he can't attempted to get a piece of it.  while 60% is just a made up number i'm sure MS is benefiting a lot from people wanted to play CoD online and that equals at least some degree of leverage.
