Forums - Gaming - Things that bug me about games: widescreen only in part.

Anyone else get annoyed when a game has a widescreen option, but not the whole screen? Usually I see the gameplay area is set for widescreen, but the HUD isn't. It's stretched out and warped. I usually try not to get bugged about graphics like that, but that thing annoys me for some reason. Even GTA on the PS2, which would clearly benefit from playing in widescreen, just looks wrong when the HUD map is an oval.

I also saw this in Metroid Prime 3, but fortunately it isn't as noticeable in that game, so I can live with it.

Just thought I'd put this up here, and ask you all how you feel about it.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Stretching of any kind has never bothered me a bit. I handily prefer stretching to letterboxing, anyway.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

While I don't like it, it's not really a game-breaking issue for me.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

its only annoying if I notice it, and luckily I dont very often

Don't stretch it then?

No stretching for me either.

But I don't really replay games from last gens, so I don't really care now.

I play Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age on my GameCube Gameboy Player on my 50inch tv and I never bother switching from "widescreen" to "normal."

Now THAT is stretched, and I love playing every minute of it. I guess I'm weird.

Yup.

GBA games are already widescreen.

Hmmm..? Mine aren't. I can distinctly tell the difference when I change resolutions or pop it in my normal GBA.
