I really don't know what people were expecting out of this. How could one be disappointed knowing fully well the history of cartoons to live action adaptations? They just don't work. It's like being shocked that somehow the next big video game adaptation to a film is less than stellar, or the next film adaptation to videogame form sucks eggs. Duh...

Learn to form realistic expectations and you'll all be disappointed far less often.

Uh, dude, a 6% on Rottentomatoes after 71 reviews is not realistic expectations. I wasn't expecting something incredible, but I was expecting something at least mediocre or with a few redeaming features. This is awful. Horrendous. One of the worst blockbusters ever made. Jonah Hex is scored higher.

Really? The closest adaptation to this to use a comparison point, Dragonball: Evolution, has a 13% on RT. The director of this movie has had a steady dip into horrific RT scores, each getting progressively worse(The Village 43%, Lady in the Water 24%, The Happening 18%). So what really makes it seem this wouldn't be a further poop stain in his career and in the world of cartoon adaptations? 6% seems very realistic if you studied RT prior to watching the movie, not to mention there are always scores up prior to release, so you should have known what you were getting yourself into.

He probably believed that if the source material was great, that such a thing would at least have a mediocre outcome. Non-standing the directors faults.

I assumed this at least.

The trailer really had me hyped up and now after reading the reviews i am so terribly disappointed. I mean the movie looked good, but apparently that is not the case. M. Night is one of my favorite directors and somehow ever since Signs he has really taken a dive, i dont know what the problem is

well i'm waiting on Predators so the hell shamalan

M. Night needs to be shot in the foot.  And slapped on live TV by an interviewer so the fans of Avatar:The Last Airbender get some sense of justice.

I never watched the film myself.. but I hope I never do.

Pixel Art can be fun.

i will see it because it looks interesting too me, i never listen to any reivews on a movie. because if i did i wouldnt have seen half of the movies i ended up really liking, same goes for gaming as well. i never liked the anime much, thought it was decent at best, will give this a shot mainly because its the 1st movie from the director that i have ever wanted too see in the theater.

Well, I've seen reviews similar to yours. I'm fazed but I'm still going. I like seeing movies I hate sometimes, too. The 2 hours of torture start some really fun conversations.
