Forums - Sony - PS3 can't find IP Address.

I have been having this issue for a while now but recently it seems to be alright. Anyways, last night I downloaded 3.40 and performed the install, but after that I haven't been able to have my PS3 find my IP Address again.

I have Media Server Connection set to "off", I reset my router and my modem and I re-entered my wireless info into the PS3, but still nothing...

Anyone else having this issue lately? It is real annoying.

I am using a 60GB Launch model.

Around the Network

Did you do it in this order? Everything is unplugged, PS3 is off.

  1. plug in cable modem, wait 30 seconds
  2. plug in router, wait 30 seconds
  3. turn on PS3 and set up connection

Are you on a network? Do you have an assigned IP? Does your computer use DHCP? Are you using a gateway(router?)

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Seems that when I unplugged my router and modem the first time I left the PS3 on. I turned it off and did everything and now it works.

I usually get it working again but it always ends up not being able to find the IP eventually.
