Forums - Nintendo - Buying DS again, need some tips for games

Well, I sold my old school phat DS long time ago when I was broke.  I've had this Nintendo DS lite silver case from club Nintendo for over a year cause I planned on rebuying a DS eventually.  Well time has come and I am getting a metallic silver DS lite from newegg.com with free shipping and no tax.  I am getting DS lite because I want the GBA slot and don't really care for the DSi since it doesn't have one (I have old school GBA that doesn't have lighted screen).   Anyways, I've played Mario Kart, Advance Wars: Duel Strike, New Super Mario Bros, and a few others.  Not really wanting to rebuy those except maybe Mario Kart.

I am a big turn based strategy fan so I was thinking maybe getting a newer Advance Wars the I haven't played (only played Duel Strike and I beat the shit out of it).  I also was interested in Panzer Tactics DS (cause I like turned based and WW2) but not too sure if that game is worth purchasing (used to love Panzer General on PC).

I also like platform games.  I am open to most genres but don't really have too much time for a rpg for DS at this moment.  Anyways, suggestions would be nice.

You like platform games? Do you like difficult games too (well, some strategy games are hard so I guess so)? I suggest you get Mega Man Zero Collection (four games in one with extras too) and maybe Contra 4 for that extra challenge in your life!

As for strategy games, did anyone ever introduce you to Fire Emblem? There's a little game called Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon that is a remake of the first game in the franchise Nintendo released on the NES a long time ago.

Have fun with your purchase(s)!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

Yea, never played any Fire Emblems but always wanted to get into that series.   Mega Man and Contra 4 don't sound bad either.  I'm probably more of Contra/Metal Slug fan than Mega Man.  I got Mega Man 2 on my vc but I have yet to play it (kind of scared of it after getting my butt kick in Ninja Gaiden area 6-2 on VC).  Perhaps, I'll get that Fire Emblem game (loved Tactic Ogre on GBA and FF Tactics on PS1).

Anyone have Civilization Revolution or Panzer Tactics DS?  I am interested in those games also.

If you want a Strategy game, go with Fire Emblem and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (which I think is better than the first DS game). Kirby Super Star Ultra and Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver are good too.

(Kirby: Squeak Squad)

Kirby is basically my favorite platformer series.

This is a turn based RPG. I like it a lot.

I like all these games a lot and I recommend all of them. You might want to watch some gameplay videos. No, I'm not going to give you links.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Yea np on not giving links I can find those myself.  I assume Mario Luigi games play a lot like Paper Mario.  I love Paper Mario series.  I might get one of those.  I suppose Bowser Inside Story is the last one they made.  Probably doesn't matter if I don't play them in order.  You think Bowser Inside Story is the best out of the Mario Luigi?

I think bowser's inside story is as good as the first but better than the second. you also might want to try both zelda games. I like ST better than PH but thats just my opinion. I think that the new dragon quest game coming in july might a be good rpg. just thinking off the top of my head.:)

don't waste time

NNID : turtuls

Pokemon heart gold/Soul silver & Dragon quest IX (july) & Dragon Quest V.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

Best TBS outside Nintendo's own offerings:
Civilization Revolution (near perfect transition of Civilization to handheld)
Age of Empires: Mythologies (yes, it's TBS on DS, not RTS, but very well done)

Best economic/building sim with RTS elements (in NA often and imo mistakenly labeled as pure strategy game):
Dawn of Discovery

Best RTS:
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
Lock's Quest
Robocalypse

Best tower defense:
Ninjatown

Best unknown game on the DS:
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes

(Like Civilization Revolution this is another example of an excellent transition of a legendary PC TBS franchise to handheld, but with the difference that unlike CivRev - which is a very well done streamlined version of the typical Civ gameplay - M&M:CoH takes a different route and is not the expected Heroes of Might & Magic port to DS; instead it's a unique mixture of strategy/RGP/puzzle elements and one of the most surprising DS games. once you get Castlevania order of ecclasia and fire emblem you should be good until that new Fire emblem comes out.
