Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy XIII Versus - Script now complete!!

I've just heard that Nomura and his team have completed work on the script, story and chracters for FF13v.

I'm thinking is this a good thing. we know so little already which is great, because i think FF13 was spoiled slightly because of all the info we got before the launch.

The problem is i personally thought FF13 was a bit repititive, boring and tedious. there were some moments of awesomeness. but SE spent 5 years on 6 hours of cutscenes. which pretty much revolved around the party completing a 'focus' because 'Serah' says so. why?? because Serah's said so. and again why ?? 'because its our focus - Serah said so'.

Personally i was very disspointed with FF13's story and i thought that there were phenominal moments, but i felt a lot of the game's story felt very empty. the 'war of transgression' is never explained properly, the orgin of the fal'cie, never explained, etc...

we have the anelects in the game, which alude to further mythology; but again as far as the cutscenes went we knew very little about the worlds of Pluse and Cocoon.

SO i want to know why FF13v's story will turn out differently. its about 4 years after the game was annouced. we have high hopes for this, and its cool if you liked FF13's story, but i personally wasnt very impressed. so lets discuss how SE can do it differently this time!!

I also have to agree on story being FF XIII's weakest part. All actions of the characters are poinless due to the fact they dont tell anything. FF XIII story is weak beacuse it only tells you not show anything.. they say hey this is the way it is becuase we say so all charecaters action revolve around something we never see.

Sephiroth and Kefka are great inthe minds of FF players becuase we get to see hoe evil they are throughout game. Would they still be cool if the scrpit said theres guys are very evil * but never ever show it*

basically in FF XIII  they never make you care about anything other than your own party

Yeah i wasnt too bothered with no towns and the linear gameplay zero129, i understand SE (Kitase & Toriyama) wanted us to focus on the story. but like Xxain has said i think we need something to care about other than the characters, like a complex villain, like the villans of the past.

maybe a story more focused on the mythology thats alluded to at the end of FF13; hopefully that will feature a lot more.

and i mean we know that Nomura is focusing on themes which will be based on reality that will incorperate very dark elements. i'm quite pleased with that. i just hope we dont get another 'Serah' type thing in the game.

The question is does Nomura have what it takes??

Yes, we want complex villians like Kefka, Sephiroth and Seymor, indeed.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I also agree that story wise FF13 was not as good as previous FF's, but hopefully with nomura at the helm of this project it will have a really detailed story that i have to think about several times, FF13 was too predictable, I even got the ending straight away after thinking about it for a little while, normally I have to play a FF game twice, as sometimes the plot is so complicated it is easy to miss the most important things, and i can't wait for a mature FF

This one may finally top my favourite FF, keep it going nomura I have faith in  you, and also can't wait for KH:BBS just to see how awesome it is

it's the future of handheld

From what we've seen and heard of Vs and Agito, the atmosphere is a lot darker than in FFXIII. Hopefully this translates into a better and more mature story rather than what we got in XIII. I would like to see a return of towns and open areas too and from the little they've revealed it sounds like this will happen.

lets get back to the FF great compeling story and the turnbased elements that make FF and RPG'S great.

wtf vgchartz just had the craziest glitch. I responded to another thread, and the post appeared in this thread.  Literally i watched as the page changed after I hit submit.  0_o

I'm glad the script is complete.  The game is sounding awesome so far.

I don't get it.

Yeah i didnt get it either, but if you have something to contribute please feel free.

I have to say though i agree with what Scoobes said about a more mature driven story, and hopefully like jneul said about how predictable FF13 was. i mean we're told about Ragnarok at the beginning of the game, i half expected that Ragnarok would happen at the end of the game or near the end. but i really was hoping that SE were leading us down a road of predictable storytelling only to blow us away with some supprises along the way.

sadly there was no such madness during the storytelling - yes there were moments, but those were to do with the characters and not with the worlds of Cocoon and Pluse. we basically new the same information about the cystal mythology that we did at the beginning.

i'm not too bothered that SE wanted to focus on the characters, but after 5 years of anticipation, we needed a lot more. hopefully team nomura will give us what FF13 should've been imo.
