Forums - Sony - converting my friend to ps3 - warning for ps3 fans only

Also staff members are allowed to converse and debate with members here, as long as they don't break any rules, which I havn't, so give this "blah blah staff member" thing a rest.

Ah, the dreaded staff members can't argue argument, I use to get hit with that one all the time.  The true sign of someone who realizes they're wrong but won't actually admit it.  That's almost as good as the I'd like to see you do better argument.

Just reading through this thread, it's silly.  The thread title alone invites all sorts of flame bait, the OP only encourages more, and it's just painfully obvious how stupid of a thread this is.

It's cool to discuss the differences of the consoles and see which is better suited for someone (I did something like that a few months back and even decided the PS3 was better for that person even though I like the 360 better), but this thread was made only to twist facts in order to make the PS3 look better for everybody.  It's stupid and only makes the forums look bad.

Yup I totally agree, the OP clearly set out to make a PS3 is better than 360 thread.

See my view is, if PS3 is such a great console, it should be able to persuade people on its own. It shouldn't need "sponsoring" by friends.

All consoles and games get positive and negative word of mouth. Look at the Wii, word of mouth has been ESSENTIAL in its success. Just because she is explaining the pluses of the PS3 does not mean it doesnt hold its own.

The worst part about this thread is that I'd be willing to be all my VG$ points that the thread converting my friend to Xbox 360 - warning for 360 fans only shows up tomorrow.

The funny thing is that under most circumstances I would suggest the person get a PS3 over upgrading their 360.  I don't think I would in this situation since it doesn't really sound like the perosn even is thinking about a PS3 and just wants to upgrade his 360 but if someone were actually trying to decide between upgrading their 360 or buying a PS3 I would probably say PS3 most of the time.

Well, I come back to find this thread has grown, open it up and the first thing I see is Twesterm replying to Seece.

May I presume the conversation is not in friendly tones anymore? ... *sigh*

1. @ Seece: The owner of the thread, knowing that some PS3 fans that are going to visit this thread are going to speak against the Xbox360, and wanting to avoid confrontation, included a warning in the thread title. But since logic does not work on the majority of humans, this obviously failed. But you can't accuse her of not trying to avoid it. Just stay out of the thread, and it is solved.

@ Seece & Twestern: The OP is clear, he already has an xbox, and had/has interest in a PS3 (as in had interested in buying one, probably based on what his friend jneul told him, probably based on other things too), but now he wants to buy the new xbox, which logically is a mistake, so she wants to help him out, and talk to her fellow PS3 owners in the process. She doesn't want to force him to buy a PS3. She wants to convince him to a PS3 instead of another Xbox360.

There were advices and answers to her OP that did not accuse her of creating an anti xbox thread (while it was clear that it was a pro PS3 one, hence the warning in the thread title).

@Seece: He already has an xbox360, why should she show him trailers of the upcomming xbox games, when he wants to spend he's money on new hardware not games. Are you arguing that if he wants to buy one more Xbox360 because of the new games that will come out (which he doesn't, he just likes the box), even though he already has one, she should let him?

Since he is intent on buying hardware, it is the right course to try to convince him to buy a PS3 or Wii, but since jneul is a PS3 owner and she would like to play with her friend online on PS3, her choice is to show him what the PS3 can do. Where is the problem there?

Wow, I can't stand pushy friends that push you to get something just because you want them to have it, so selfish and pointless, woop it's going to increase PS3 sales by 1 unit, what's the point?

Your argument is hugely biased btw. You have a great point with bluray and free online multiplayer, the rest is either not true anymore or your own bias.

I'd rather have a pushy friend than one that one that would let me make a stupid decision. He said his friend doesn't even play his 360. But now that a slim 360 came, he wants to spend $300 on that? You realize that he could save that $300 and still play 360 games right? Or instead of spending that $300 on an item he doesn't use, he can use it on a something new.

You probably don't play PSP, right? Did you go out and buy a PSPGo just because it got redesigned? If I was jneul in this situation, I would have told you to buy a DS instead of wasting your money on the SAME item that you don't play

And what's worse, he was about to get a PS3 before the slim 360 came out. So back to my example. You have a PSP. You don't play it, it's gathering dust. You were about to get a DS, but then BAM, PSPGo comes out. No new games, just new hardware. All of a sudden, you don't want the DS anymore, you want to buy the PSPGo because it's a redesign. What kind of friend would I be if I saw that you had one thing that gathered dust, and you wanted to try something new, but is about to spend good money on another dust collector just because it looks different, and I let you go ahead and let you spend that money without speaking to you about it?

I guess I'm being pushy if I tell the whole VGC community not to buy a slim 3D0 if that came out tomorrow, even though none of us plays the 3D0, and would buy it purely for aesthetics. Sure, it's the friend's money and he should do what he wants with it, but as a friend, jneul is right in trying to tell him otherwise.

If he buys a slim 360, he'll just have 2 dust collecting paperweights

If she was a decent friend she would show him trailers for all the upcoming 360 games (because you know, there are some coming ..) and then let him make his own mind up, she's essentially trying to sell the PS3 to him, he can make his own mind up, and if it's a mistake then it's his to make.

Let's not pretend this is anything other than what it is, jnuel trying to get another PS3 owner, from the op it doesn't seem like she cares at all about his needs or wants, she just outlines that he hasn't played his 360 in a while (neither have I, yet I plan to buy around 15 games in the next 6 months) and decides to take it upon herself to sell him a PS3 solely based on the fact that she's PRO Sony.

I'm not sorry for telling it how it is.

Her - friend - already - has - a - working - 360. Comprende cabrone?

Just in case: Her - friend - already - has - a - working - 360.

Now tell me how getting a redesigned Xbox helps him with anything? If she's his friend, they might also have a nice fun playing togather on the PS3, sharing games, downloads of PSN and playing online. You can't do that with TWO dust collecting Xboxes.

Noone gives a fuck about a 1 user in the "console war" which seems to bother you so much. It's about making sure your friend doesn't do a stupid mistake by wasting his money on a thing he already has and thus have no need for.

This^^

I'm not even going to give him a lecture, lol most of them have not read my post's in here where i already said all i'm going to do is lend him my ps3 games and tell him to make his own choice, i see nothing bad about that approach at all.

To prove my statement that he was going to get a ps3, it was only last month that he bought MGS4 and Folklore off me, so it would be a waste not to have a console to play them on!!

If you think this is flaimbait, ms users, sorry but your wrong, i should have posted this in the MS Forum, and the title did include a warning, bascially your statements are biased as well, and you are trolling in my thread, insulting me with suggestions of sexually harassing him, pretty sure that's permaban material right there

PS VITA = LIFE

The official Vita thread http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=130023&page=1

I definitely prefer the PS3 over the 360, but I have come to accept a few things living in the very Pro-360 United States of America.  The press and 2/3 of the gamers here tell me since the beginning of the generation that PS3 has no games / worthless and the 360 is a gift from god him(her)self.  Through that, I have found about 20 PS3 games that compell me and a total of two games on the 360 - ToV and LO (don't care about Halo / Gears).  Maybe I should include Bayonetta since the PS3 version was substandard.  However, I'm in the minority in this region and I've learned to accept that.

I guess my advice would be - unless you are a direct stakeholder in Sony (you are a dev so maybe you are?), let him see the console's offerings.  Beyond that, I think that's Sony's job.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Are you secretly a PR for Microsoft? Calm down Aaron Greenburg.

I don't see what my post has to do with Microsoft, other than complimenting Sony's Free online and BLu Ray, which aaron greenberg would never do. But keep it up, you're heading for a ban ...

I'm so scared.
