Forums - Sony - converting my friend to ps3 - warning for ps3 fans only

Don't act pushy and do not lose your temper, people don't like when someone tries to change their opinions forcefully.

Just casually approach and ask him to reconsider if he really wants to buy the same console again or play something new. Find out what game genres he likes and show games in those genres on the PS3. (FPS, RPG, etc) There's a lot of versatility in the game library.

MY FAT workd without repair

The only reason to get a new console is if you are interrested in the exclusives of that console. So if he doesnt care about sony titles then his ps3 will be gatherin dust the same.

If I was you I'll get him a SNES or a Genesis or even a Wii, theres more different games on those consoles than to get another HD consoles where both share about 95% of the same games.

Nintendo made me a gamer so I'd be stupid to ever try to forget that                                             like so many people nowadays

The Top  Best Consoles Are SNES and PSX

Currently Playing: 1.Monster Hunter tri 2.MegaMan 10

Every single thing on your list is true for the Xbox 360 EXCEPT for free online and Blu-Ray, and fails to highlight the massive multimedia capabilities of the Xbox 360 above and beyond the PS3 such as Hulu...

Aggregate gaming rankings in fact hold the Xbox 360 to possess MORE great games than the PS3.

Why lie to your friend?  Let him get what he wants.

Ok starcraft...you have a 360 and $300. What should you do? Buy another 360? Or buy a PS3 and get a different experience? If you get a PS3, you get to experience both. You get another 360, and you may have 2 consoles, but you only get one experience. What makes more sense TO YOU?

The new Xbox 360 will likely be extremely reliable, it has all the advantages of the PS3 plus the advantages of the Xbox 360 line excepting Blu-Ray.  These advantages are enhanced by built in Wi-Fi and a large HDD.

As Twesterm pointed out, what I want it irrelevant.  The bloke wants it, he should be able to get it without being harassed.  Informing somone is one thing, "converting" them and actually formulating an argument to make them switch is another entirely.

Extremely more reliable? What about the 3 year warranty (don't you dare say anything like 'its not convenient' 'its not needed anymore')? WiFi? The newest wifi adapter (wireless N, I think) goes for about $60 on eBay. 120GB is $40 and the 250GB is $60 on eBay. So this person can get the same effect (even though it doesn't matter at the end of the day because HE DOESN'T PLAY HIS ONE 360 SO BY WHAT LOGICAL REASON SHOULD HE BUY ANOTHER ONE?) with his current 360 for $100-$120. A lot less than $300.

And again, the worst part is, he wants a PS3, has already bought games for the PS3, and the only thing halting him is a redesign that with all its upgrades...can be attained for $120 instead of $300. Here's the situation as I see it. Friend wants a PS3. Jneul informs him about the PS3. Friend wants to spend $300 on what he can get for $120. Jneul along with the rest of us are saying he's being illogical and the smart thing to do is to go with his original plan.

I get the feeling that you guys aren't taking this as a "friend helping a friend" situation (which it is). You see it as "fanboys trying to get one more PS3 sold". I bet if it was the other way around and the friend already had a PS3 and was planning on getting a 360....but changed his mind because of a redesign...you'd all start spouting "GEARS!" "HALO!" "ENTRY PRICE IS $150!" "XBL IS THE BEST!" and say it's the smart thing to do and that owning 2 PS3s was silly (especially if the person didn't play it) <---which that is

Meh, I don't really play Halo, was never a massive fan.  Ultimately, a thread title that includes words like "converting" and "warning for PS3 fans only" is not condusive to the notion that this is a friend helping a friend situation as you put it.

Furthermore, there is two, mutual exclusive things that can be drawn from the OP:

Either:

a) The friend is an idiot

or

b) The thread creator is misinformed or a "fanboy trying to sell another PS3."  There are perfectly legitimate reasons to want a second Xbox 360, most of which are stated in this thread.  If the friend wants one, it is logical to assume that he would be made happy by the purchase of one.

Like your first 360 collecting dust because you don't play the games available on the platform? I'm going to go with option A

Again, the OP has clearly misled us, or has misunderstood the situation.  There ARE perfectly legitimate reasons to want a second Xbox 360.

I think the part that is buggin people out is that he doesnt play the 360 he has. Is buying a Slim gonna make him wanna play 360 all of a sudden? There has to be a reason he doesnt play it. Find out that reason before recommending a PS3, because you could influence him buying one only for it to collect dust next to the 360.

I am a gamer. Not a fanboy, not a troll, a gamer. So when you dont like what I have to say, remember this fact.
