They seem robotic, as far as emotion goes compared to Rare's. I used to love the SNES versions. RARE seemed to give the monkey's alot more character compared to the robotic emotionless Retro. so I will have to be a tough critic of this game if it doesnt have the same heart soul as the SNES versions. Am I totally wrong here?
This game final outcome will show if Retro can do anything other than, IMO above average shooting games. |
I dont think that any prime games can be called AVERAGE shooters...

It's a pretend attack on the game, that the average minded person would find ludcrious. We are meant to think that this is bias in disguise, but it's really not. I doubt the OP has any opinion towards the actual subject at all, or iroinically, actually disagrees with his own OP, or in all likelyhood, like myself, finds the subject nonsensical in every possible definition of the word. However, I will comment on the OP as if it were a serious post, because you never really know for sure. IMO, I don't think there is reason in this case to impart emotion into the characters of a 2D donkey kong game, and furthermore, in the case of this game, which is meant to be humorous and surreal, it is completely and utterly insignificant. Rare didn't add any emotional depth in the original games(a false belief of the OP), because there really is no reason to. The game isn't story based, and there isn't a hidden theme of loss or someother such nonsense. It's utterly rediculious to believe otherwise imo, and anyone who reads or experiences any emotional depth into Donkey fucking Kong smiling a toothy grin and giving a thumbs up at the end of a 2d platforming level is obviously playing the game for the wrong reasons. Also, Retro is a far better developer than you give them credit for, which again, I feel you added to stir controversy, and not because you or anyone actually believes that. |

Man what is with people just going off on rants calling people trolls for giving their opinions? Must be some sort of virus spreading.

On the first K Rool, is that his belly button or his penis?
What the hell are you guys talking about? Did we watch the same video?
I've seen this like 20 times since the game looks so damn good. DK's animations look extremely smooth to me (I'm entertained just watching him), and the (busy) backgrounds look amazing. Retro didn't spend 2 years on this game for nothin'
If it's something about the game you're worried about, it definitely shouldn't be the visuals.
edit: Just realized we're talking about "emotion and soul." Yeah, I don't see that in the first games either, so whatever
While I understand that this is an opinion. I find silly that a game that is put down just because of a few minor details that do not affect the overall gameplay and experience. I mean, is more reasonable to have the complaint about the Kremlings that just the facial animations.
@OP
Have you really played any of the Metroid Prime games? because calling them generic shooters when they are clearly not FPS games makes me doubt of your claim that Super Metroid "shat" on them.
@OP thats a strange thing to comment about.
NINTENDO
nintendo forever . . .

it doesnt have the snes great graphics.dunno why ppl say it is retro XD
I don't get how you can get the impression the characters have "no soul," especially just from a few videos.. I mean what exactly do you want them to do, recite a poem to you?
I'm just happy that Donkey Kong and Diddy are back. I just don't see what's so different about the early DKC games that made them have "soul" and why this one does not..
