Four of the best animation movies ever made are missing: Pinocchio, The Jungle Book, Princess Mononoke, Shrek (also Bambi, which is not among my favourites, but widely acknowledged as a masterpiece).

I can somehow accept the lack of Pinocchio, The Jungle Book and Princess Mononoke as 4 other decent to very good Disney movies and 2 brilliant Ghibli movies are at least listed.

(I didn't expect Pinocchio and The Jungle Book anyway as these two animation masterpieces don't seem to be very popular in USA today and are therefore extremely underrated by default; I noticed that even weaker Disney classics such as Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland are more often mentioned by US people and media than two of Disney's finest and most influential works.)

The lack of Shrek is not acceptable though, which is not only by far the best Dreamworks animation movie so far, but also one of the best comedy movies of - say - the past 20 years with a brilliant screenplay. The Oger is not pleased.

The negative surprise on this list (of those I've seen) is Metropolis, which has intersting different animation styles (which were used on purpose, but don't fit together at all), but is not even a good movie. I bet if the (weak) screenplay wasn't written by a manga legend based on the work of another manga legend (Otomo/Tezuka) which was again influenced by one of the most famous silent movies, only few people would remember this movie, let alone put it on a list of 25 best ever. At least Otomo's own and far better Akira made it to the list, as well.

The only positive surprise (again, of those I've seen) is The Iron Giant.

Although they list 8 of Pixar's 10 movies in their top 25 (which is just too much, even for an excellent studio like Pixar), they still manage to ignore one of the best this studio has ever made: Monsters, Inc. - like Shrek this is another rare example of a modern US animation movie with an unusual, brilliant plot idea and a very good screenplay - but it seems good screenplays don't count for many people when it comes to animation movies.

Yes, don't tell me. I know that the list is subjective as well as everything I just wrote, but as I love movies and music way more than videogames I can't stand it when people just pretend to love movies or music.

Here's a list of Top 100 I just googled which seems to be made by people who actually love movies:

I love that movie more people need to see it, it is worthy of a top 20 spot of any list or great animated movies IMO but I doubt the people over at IGN have even seen it.

I don't really like that list though. There's no Shrek 2, Kung Fu Panda or How to Train Your Dragon.

imo lion king 1 1/2 > lion king > lion king 2 but the original is good too. :)
