I stopped downloading at 20% and started looking for other ways to find the patches. Just downloaded a 4.7gig patch in 2 hours, hopefully this will do the trick...

Almost a week in open beta, this should have been easier...

used the torrent right? make sure you put the patch in the right folder. use the steps i listed above.

Yup torrents, this one was easy though because it already came in the right folder ^^. Downloaded two other small patches and got it running...

Now trying to get my ps3 pad to work with the game... game looks and sounds great though.

Is it good? Because the response is pretty negative on other forums I checked.

I hope some of the issues present are resolved by its release!!!!

At least it's pretty.

How do you attune to an aetheryte? I really have to ask because I don't how. *shame*

I hit the exclamation mark, but there isn't anything in the menu about attuning... I'm at the very beginning in camp bentbranch.

Yeah, It looks good, though with the high system requirements I expected something better. And it judders on my PC, even though I have fairly strong system:

Geforce 275 GTX, Athon 64 X2 6000plus, 4GB DDR3-RAM.

The interface is gruesome. It's confusing, clunky and nonpractical, up to the point where it's nearly unuseable. After nearly 3 hours, I still don't really know this game works. One of the biggest flaws is absence of tutorials. And FFXIV is not even my first MMORPG.

The quests are also repetitive. Kill 3 monsters, collect 5 items, repeat process A and B.

The cities look beatiful, though. Sadly, you can't say that about the other areas. If you like plain, empty deserts, you might feel good here. I do not.

Even the interaction with other players is flawed. Trading is complicated like hell.

In conclusion, you get mediocre graphics for the system requirements, horrible interface, unasthetic landscapes, repetitive gameplay and add that with the monthly price and 15 hours/day restriction, and you got yourself an awful MMORPG.

I can not understand how incredibly bad this game could get after WoW and even their own game, FF XI, show how MMORPGs are made. I would go as far as saying you get way better fre-to-play MMORPGs than this abomination. And I was actually looking forward to that game. It's sad that to face the truth after you hoped for so much more.

updated: 14.01.2012

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

You realize this is a beta test right? You do know what that means right? Right?

He does but the concern is that the game is a WEEK away from launch in Japan

so yes its a beta test.....but how old is the beta version really.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Surprisingly enough I was stunned at how well my laptop can run this game in open beta. So I uploaded its performance on youtube. I honestly thought my laptop would crash and burn right away but I was wrong.

Here are my laptop specs:

GeForce GT 130M

Integrated RAMDAC

Graphics Memory: 2799MB

Dedicated Video Memory: 1024MB

I guess the only thing that is saving me is the memory. After all it is running very smoothly on high specs at 720 resolution.

edit: forgot no videos allowed >_>

Well if he played FFXI, he would know already not everything is given right away at the very start of launch.

As a matter of fact I remember FFXI beta was very similar.

Doing the cleansing quest thing where you have to dance with the children or whatever it is that they tell you to do, been wasting an hour or so and still haven't completed it.

Arrr, where's my wiki when I need it.
