@ rutea7: I get your point. I bought an X-Box 360 at the time because I wanted to play that game (Lost Odyssey - always been a fan of Sakaguchi) and I knew there were other games that would interest me down the road (Mass Effect and Bioshock among others, since i didn't have a high-end PC at the time like I have now), while the PS3 didn't have much for me at the time. Once Metal Gear Solid 4 came out, it changed and my 360 has been collecting more and more dust as time goes by.
Lately, the only game that came out that is a must in my eye is Alan Wake. And the future exclusives don't really appeal to me all that much. Never been a heavy FPS player (I still play a few of them, like Bioshock and Killzone 2) but the PS3 clearly got better and better as time passed compared to the 360, as far as I'm concerned.
@andremop: Tales of Vesperia, while having an ok-good battle system is generic as hell when it comes to just about everything else, especially when you think about it's overly boring and cliché story.

Unless you don't consider digital distribution of content actual games. If that is so, the PSP Go then has NO games for it. Like, suddenly, we shouldn't count Miner: Dig Deep as a game on the 360 and an exclusive? Miner: Dig Deep is one of the best games released this generation. It is a small and inexpensive title, but I would count it as one of the top 20 games I played this generation. I think I paid less than $5 for it also. It is in the Indies game section, so it isn't well known.
Look at this:

[With almost 1000 titles now available on Xbox Live Indie Games, what kind of games are breaking through from a quality - or quirkiness - point of view on the service? We look at ten of the best new titles on the Xbox 360's hobbyist/indie-contributed game service, from Mamotte Knight through Zombie Estate and beyond.]
That is pushing 1000 there.
XBox Live Game Room is going to push around 1000 titles, rereleases of retro games to, which are currently exclusive just to the XBox for the most part:
And then you have over 300 games over XBox Live Arcade:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_Live_Arcade_games
People can sort out how many are exclusive to the 360 there.
But hey, why even mention these? It is best not to, if you want to somehow say the PS3 blows away the 360 on exclusive content, because the PS3, if you factor in digital distribution, is dwarfed by the Wii and 360. And forget the PC here to. If all that matters is sheer quantity of titles, good or bad, then go for the PC, because it has a monster number of free games you can get playing over the web.
Reality? You look over a platform and see if it has sufficient content that you want to play. Having content exclusive to it, is a draw to get it over somewhere else. But, let's say a given platform is able to play most games that appear on every single other platform, and really none on its own. Would it be worth getting? Well, it doesn't matter if the content is exclusive or not, if it is all in one spot, it is a compelling reason to get.
Exclusive content becomes key when the exclusiveness is in the area of something being a killer app. That then is when it is very important. Gran Turismo 5, Halo, and also Wii Fit would fit into this category.
Why isn't this thread locked, indeed. Exclusive or not (and for argument's sake, I'll say not), there is still a megaton of games that people who just own a PS3 can't play and people who own a 360 can. I can't believe I wasted my time watching that video (and why is it that games that are downloadable like Siren and MGS Online--which is a part of MGS4-- okay to count for the PS3's list as well as the two Ninja Gaiden Sigma's which are ports of 360 games but a game like Dead Rising which is different from the Wii game is not?).
Hey, I own and love every system available. There is no section I don't buy from when I go to Gamestop (just bough LBP and Alan Wake yesterday!). Despite the ravings of a fanboy, time and time and time again, it's the games for the 360 that I end up with.
I've given this thread too much attention. Enjoy your "console war".
It's true - yes, but I'm curious as to what people anticipate as a realistic percentage of console owners with gaming PC's. If it is 100% then the 'console exclusive' argument really does mean nothing, but I'll eat my hat if it's anything more than 30% (even that's generous).
Is it possible that there could there be more than 1 person in the whole world without the means to afford a gaming PC and the idea of paying $150 for a 360 against a much dearer PC seem 'not bad'?
I don't know about anyone else but I'm more into my 360 than my PC because of the fact that i'm playing on my 50 inch screen in surround sound on a comfy couch than anything else. I'll take a hit in the graphics department because of that.

Well, I don't have a 50" TV, but I've got a Full-array LED 32" TV (:P) with surround setup and I play my PC games on that. :P
| rutea7 said: would the wii fans be more interested if they knew that he lists the wii exclusives and says how wii owns xbox 360? cause he does. there's no other system with such a limited library as the xbox360, that's the point all the xbox fans usually say is that there's not enough games they want on a ps3 to interest them in getting one, i find that hard to believe. it's much more natural for me to say that it's the last system i'd ever buy cause there's like one game on it that i might like that i cant play on pc and it's not that great. just cause we are fans doesnt mean we cant be rational.
edit: oh and i wont answer any replies to my post. it's a statement not an argument. there's no arguing there. |
There is no need to argue your points......the reasons should be clear.
N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!
