How is it one of the most important games of E3? If that was important, then what about Zelda or Twisted Metal? There were half a dozen other games more important than this on E3...

i think thats the best M$ showed... im guessing, i have no idea.

The best game for knetics i sure of it , and by this is u can see what knetics is all about, i must say i never played Just Dance , but i will until the end of this week , still i sure for some reason that Dance central will not outsell it ... i think that there is something to do with the visuals or maybe cuz dance central looks complicate to follow ...

I love Let's Dance, but I stopped reading here "One of the of the most important games of E3, Dance Central"

LOL!

It's because it was the only demo for the Kinect at E3 that wasn't bogged down by the infamous avatar delays, and the gaming press has to find some way to avoid admitting the Microsoft presentation was about as bad as the Nintendo 08 presentation.

And I know that's what's going on because this is a Kotaku article, a long Nintendo-hating site and HD kiss-up.

BTW, I think the camera is a reason to not have a Wii version, but if wearing sensors are required for the PS3 version (but again, if), then sensors should work for the Wii version, just reading from the sensor bar.

Their actual analysis of why Dance Central could be great is a lot more in depth than simple Nintendo hating

And are you suggesting that they did nothing for the hardcore? No new games, but they demoed Halo, Gears, CoD and showed off Halo. Not amazing, but not nothing

They cold use the balance board ...but they dont want competition with Just Dance...

The biggest issue here is the fact Sony has failed to show how powerful the Eyetoy is since  Selnor knows so much about the technology which Harmonix doesn't.

Harmonix didn't say anything about Eyetoy.  They said they'd investigate the possibility of doing a port with Move.

They didn't need to say eyetoy since you need the eyetoy to use the Move anyway.

Not that I really care for this genre, but isn't the Ubisoft camera (is it still being made?) supposed to be something like the PS3 camera?

Sure, but it implies a different approach than Kinect.  If they're using Move, then they're not relying purely on the camera, and what limitations it may or may not have compared to Kinect.

How do they do Dance Central without full skeletal pickup?

I guess they could downgrade it to Wand movements, but isnt that losing the appeal of what Dance Central is?

This.

I know this is going to be controversial and stuff, but Move and Kinect both have their strengths and limitations.  THIS game is all about Kinect strengths.  A Move version would likely be downgraded so much that it would actually hurt sales and the reputation of the Move.

The only way either new motion controller can succeed is if they recognize the strengths and limitations of each and completely AVOID game types that highlight the limitations.

Should not be a problem for the PS eye : With such a game I don't think a 3d sensor camera will show a decisive advantage over a 2d camera, especialy with footsteps. (It's only my opinion btw)

Again, I blame Sony for failing to show how powerful the eyetoy is, yes it may not be as advanced as kinect, but trust me, it can do the dance game easily, but don't expect developers to seperate eyetoy/move, they compliment each other. You are looking for things that aren't there.

I'd expect any shortcomings of the camera for positioning/tracking to be compensated for with the use of the Move controllers (or even 2 controllers).  Honestly, I don't see much issue with a conversion overall.

The real meat of Kinect is in it's libraries and processing, which is something that MS has been actively working with 3rd parties on. Weekend Confirmed had a good segment about in their E3 podcast iirc, where they relayed a story 2nd hand from a developer at Harmonix about how MS worked directly with them whenever they encountered recognition/tracking problems (loose clothing and mesh clothing being 2 big ones) and how that troubleshooting would be reflected in the next build.  I think this is going to be Kinect's real advantage upfront, it just seems like Microsoft's sinking a lot in software side that's giving it so much more capability.

That's also good news for Sony though, because it means they might be competitive by also building up their own libraries rather than throwing out even more hardware...
