Forums - Gaming - Harmonix' Dance Central Could Come to PS3, But Not Wii

even with two move wands and the camera it couldnt give the same information that kinect takes in.  kinect is clearly the optimal device for this "game".

*sigh* What's up with that bitterness from Wii fans?

He said, he doesn't get enough data from the Wii to create it the way he wants it, looks like a reasonable explanation to me.

NO leg motion support. Move still comes with a camera and thus can track leg movement. Wii doesn't have a solid camera short of the Ubisoft Yourshape. That certainly doesn't place much value on Kinect if any webcam can be used for the game.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

I think it stems from Harmonix's general attitude towards Wii.  We had similar "the platform's just not capable" excuses when everyone and their mother in the press was asking Harmonix about a Wii Rock Band upfront... then six months later we got an outsourced PS2 port of RB1 followed six months after that by a fully featured inhouse developed RB2 Wii.  From then on for RB, Wii became a priority alongside 360 & PS3.

Harmonix pretty obviously resist Wii whenever possible, but they're also business savvy enough to actually do what the market wants eventually.  I'm sure Dance Central will be a key Wii HiFi launch title in Q4 2011...

really? A dancing game is going to be a key Wii HiFi launch title. Are you serious?

I see, so there's a history, not that I'd care though, just like I didn't care about Valve running their mouths about the PS3, lol.

But good that Wii got RB, for it's an awesome game and it seems, that it means there is still hope for a Wii Dance Central, just like there is hope for a PS3 version, good for all of us :) .

Like I'm really hopeing for a Dance Central ps3 game. Dancing in front of a T.V. just doesn't sound like my idea of fun.

I wonder how they will do it. Presumably, 2 moves in the hands, but more vague footwork? The PS Eye can obviously do some tracking itself, but not on the same level of precision

well, not all games can be fun for all of us - there is no problem with that, for there are enough games to choose from at the moment

I think Harmonix is competely oblivious to the existance of Motion Plus. Poor guys.

clearly you are completely oblivious to the part where Move is a camera based technology and motion plus is not.  Sony has shown demos with full body tracking, something motion plus can't do.  The question to ask for a Move port is whether or not Move's body tracking is good enough to compete with kinect's body tracking.
