I think it stems from Harmonix's general attitude towards Wii. We had similar "the platform's just not capable" excuses when everyone and their mother in the press was asking Harmonix about a Wii Rock Band upfront... then six months later we got an outsourced PS2 port of RB1 followed six months after that by a fully featured inhouse developed RB2 Wii. From then on for RB, Wii became a priority alongside 360 & PS3.
Harmonix pretty obviously resist Wii whenever possible, but they're also business savvy enough to actually do what the market wants eventually. I'm sure Dance Central will be a key Wii HiFi launch title in Q4 2011...
