Updated the thread with that video from PAX which was loooooooooong overdue
I finally beat Infamous last night! The ending was a big "holy shit!" moment for me. Arguably the best ending I've experienced in any game, and it totally made up for the game's earlier weak points. It's something I will never forget, I'll say that.
I really have to applaud Sucker Punch on Infamous' narrative. It was an above average video game story that avoided most video game cliches, and it finished with a total mindfuck of an ending. And somehow they managed to pull this off without making things all crazy and convoluted like MGS/FF. The voice acting was also really good, suprisingly so given the game's general presentation was rather lackluster (cutscenes aside). I really loved the Voice of Survival in particular.
But man, I was really pissed when I realized you couldn't save Trish, no matter which option you chose. In the end I understand why they did it, but it was still a dick move, imo.
Anywho, I am now really stoked for Infamous 2. It's already apparent the presenrarion has been much improved, with Sucker Punch going with a more colorful style, somethign they're much better at than the whole grim/grey look. Aside from the already apparent graphical leap (draw distance and LOD is something that needs particular attention, imo), they just need to iron out the controls a bit more. Too many times in Infamous I had issues making a specific leap, or dropping down to a ledge. And often I just got stuck on random objects. Working on a "free climb" system ala Uncharted 2 would really help here.
Edit:
Oh yeah. I'm only missing two blast shards. FML.
