I am pretty confident that most WII games are not good. Only games like mario, zelda and the other firts party games actually deserve such sales. PS2 games were of quality and that is something the WII can't replicate at the moment.

you can and can't blame Nintendo on this.

its their fault that they made no effort for piracy and no effort to up their tech

and its third parties fault that they didn't do anything special for the wii.

I'm tired of hearing people say that third parties don't try much for the wii. Monster Hunter Trii is an awesome game and so is No more heroes and I'm sure many other games as well. The problem is, the wii owners buy mostly Mario and Party games. What would you do if you were a developer? Try to make a great game and get poor sales or make yet another "party" game with little effort and get great sales?

I agree, every single game on the PS2 was a classic of some sort, different to Wii games.

How much SW has the Wii sold right now, after how many years? Can someone tell me?

Because the PS2 has shifted 1.5 BILLION units of SW, over a 10 year span.

Also, do his numbers include the 60 Million units of bundled Wii Sports?

Wii SW shipments through March 2010 (~40 months since launch): 544.83M (source).

PS2 SW shipments through March 2003 (~37 months since launch): 350M (source), or ~394.4M with additional 3 months of sales*.

*It's hard to track the rest 3 months to even the time frame, since source provides SW sales only on yearly basis, but I won't far off if I assume that taking into consideration lack of big releases at the time and overall slow April through June months it was considerably less than 1/4 of total sales through entire year, 1/5 at best.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

Great for Nintendo, since a lot of that is first party, probably already way more than PS2's first party software.

Realistically, 95% of PS2 games were trash but people were oblivious to their existence. The primary difference between the Wii and PS2 is that third party publishers pawn off the same kind of niche experiences that were failures on the PS2 (Okami, Killer7, God Hand) as AAA experiences; even though they lack the IP, Marketing, Production Values, or other characteristics that made successful AAA experiences on other platforms.

The saying "You only get one chance to make a first impression" is certainly true with game series, and countless virtually-unplayable ports in major series were released on the Wii in its first couple of years; and anyone who made the mistake of buying one of these games is not going to risk repeating it by buying the sequel regardless of how much publishers promise that they have fixed the problems.

Someone said every single PS2 game were classics? I don't believe these games are no hwere near quality: http://www.gamerankings.com/browse.html?site=ps2&cat=0&year=0&numrev=0&sort=1&letter=&search=

Eh, are you saying MHTri and NMH had "poor sales"?  If the Wii sales of both were "poor", how would you characterize PS2 sales of games from both teams?

I had a PS2 and, although there were dozens of great games, there also a pile of crap titles. As far as I can see, the Wii and the PS2 stand as equals in the shovelware department. The main difference is that there were many more quality third party games to the PS2.

Really now? Really? The problem is Wii owners? It's Wii owners who are at fault for mostly buying Mario and Party games. It's a little ironic that you note Monster Hunter Tri and No More Heroes in your post - both appreciative third party efforts that hit a noticeable level of success - then you go on to imply that making a quality game will generate bad sales on the console but a party game with little effort will produce good sales.

How technical is your game?
