Sorry, LOZ:WW only got one GOY, and considering all the GOY awards there are (30+ in any given year) that's hardly worth noting.

I suppose that you don't count console specific mags as Nintnedo Power also gave it GOTY but wouldn't have considered games on PS2/Xbox.

Personally I still would put it up there as not only did it technically get two GOTY (though I understand disqualifying one of them) but also got 40/40 in Famitsu which is rare enough to be equivalent to a GOTY from them.

Anyway, GOTY  or not it's a great game and the same apply to SMG.

"Dusty Dune Galaxy Purple Coins"
Make it to the tower thingie that switches sides and work your way backwards. Almost all of the frustrating coins are there.

"Dreadnought Purple Coins"
Try to memorize the locations of the cannons and the purple coins. Also, avoid the temptation to get the Super Mushroom, as you're pretty much guaranteed to fail this one after getting hit once.

"Kamella Daredevil Run"
*E* My "advice" for this one was rather rude. I'll just say that I can't really help with this one.

"Dreadnought Secret Garbage Star"
I'll admit this one had me stumped for a while. You see those little gold circles that turn into coins? Try to throw the Bob-ombs onto them. They're positioned in a way that should get all of them.

"Bonefin Galaxy"
Find where the red shell spawns, it makes this a LOT easier. Also, make it a habit to go up for air between hits, and don't trust any treasure chests unless you already know what's in them.

"Luigi's Purple Coins"
This one seems to be unnecessarily frustrating for people, so I'm going to give more tips for it than the others:
Don't let the timer freak you out. It's only there so they had an excuse to include more than the usual 100 coins.
Do NOT get every coin in the first group. The star appears on the starting platform, and you'll need a way to get there.
JUMP from coin to coin. That way you can get yourself out of any corner you accidentally back yourself into.
For the clusters of five coins that are floating over the death pit: Jump towards the middle one, then spin back onto "land" IMMEDIATELY as you hear the sound confirming you got it. You might not get them all, but don't worry.
Don't rely too heavily on the coins that you need the long jump to get, you'll most likely miss a lot of them.

"Bouldergeist Daredevil Run"
This is another "don't get freaked out" star. Remain calm and wait until you are absolutely sure you've avoided all the rocks he throws before collecting Bomb Boos. As long as you're watching Bouldergeist, that's generally the only thing that hits you.

Hopefully this advice helps you and anyone else having problems with these.

With the dreadnought purple coins you don't have to make one mad dash for it, the moving platforms come back so you can stand, wait, and take a breather on any of the platforms that do not move, you can also jump back onto the still platforms if you happen to miss a coin on any of the moving ones. You can reverse jump onto the square block with the face to the coins on top of him and at thte very top of the level there is platform with 8 coins on it but don't rush around to get them, stand at the very edge and wait for the bomb to pass get a few and repeat until u have them, then wait for a moving platform, It's actually a fairly easy level if you don't keep rushing ahead.

I don't know how you have a problem with Bonefin Galaxy, takes me about 90 seconds.Get the red mucshroom, geta green or red shell just keep swimming in circles until you find him and smash the shell ur swimming with into him, then swim down, get another shell, get a coin or air bubble and repeat.

The swimming in Bonefin is awful, I keep dying from those darn torpedo things. The most hits I've gotten is 3.

Oh, and I beat Dusty Dune...on my first try too, weird.

The water levels are my worst so I try and find ways to minimize the amount of turns I do.

Just keep circling the area, no need to turn to go the other way, you just need to dive down a bit to pick up shells and air bubbles.

I'm sure you only need 3 hits?!

I know you will attack me because of this but SMG in my opinion is not GOTY, I liked it (didn't loved it, Mario 64 is still better), it a good game with good quality and lots of imagination into it but for me... too easy. I would think that a game like Bioshick, MP3, Halo3, COD4 and Mass Effect, are better games, more challenging and in my personal opinion better games, so I don't think its because its rating that is not getting game of the year is because there are a lot of excellent games out there this year.

Girl Gamer Elite was right. Apparently the game has to have swords or guns to be GOTY huh? 8)

And (with the exception of ME) an FPS

A GOTY should be a game that brings something New to gaming, but has anything new come to gaming this year??

 My guide says 5.

 2 games, really.

1. Portal, an intensively funny and innovative game. It brings a lot of new stuff to the puzzle and first person genres, and effectically created the new genre of "First person puzzle game". Shame it's only 3 hours long.

2. Super Mario Galaxy, with all of it's new concepts and gravity and such .

I think bioshock was very innovative, ratchet was innovative halo 3 with the forge and the video was innovative, rock band was innovative, there are a lot of games very innovative and the gravity thing is not inovative

Wrong about Portal NintendoTogepi, it's based on an internet game, in fact the makers of that game were hired to make it with Valve. Narbacular Drop is the name of the game, look it up.
