He is not talking about nintendos hardware but it's games. Hence GAMECRITIC-Proof.. Not industry critic Proof. In that aspect I would have to agree. Nintendos games does seem like they get a free ride.

You've got to be off your rocker man, all statements by Tuganuno and Leatherhat have been about the games and the hardware... even then the games don't get a free ride if they did then why the hell did all the people make articles about how the average metacritic score for Wii games being lower than PS3 or 360.  There isn't much of a leg to stand on no matter which position you're trying to take with Nintendo not having critics hitting them this gen.

Ok. This is my first post in this thread. I read about two pages in and i'm pretty informed and ready.

First. Leatherhat. WHAT? Since when does Nintendo get free rides. As a matter of fact, since when does Nintendo get praise. They get a few days of praise because of E3 and all of a sudden they've never been criticized in the 20 years they've been in gaming? Duh you're going to start a flame war. People are going to get mad because that shit don't make sense.

Dude, what are you the "Anti-Nintendo?" Do you actually believe Nintendo is gamerscritic proof or do you just love arguments? 

Wii Music. Links Crossbow Training. Wii Sports. Animal Crossing. Wii Play.

All big games (well apart from Crossbow, which is a spinoff of a big franchise) and none particularly well received. Their top games don't get a free ride in my opinion, they're just good. Very few people are going to criticise Super Mario Galaxy because to most people (or at least most people I've talked to) it's just distilled fun.

It's like E32008 and all the reaction that went with it never happened. The reason Nintendo are getting praised now is because the gaming media (for the most part) appears to believe that they are 'finally' atoning for the mistakes made at E3 two years ago. Meanwhile, Microsoft have had their own bad E3 moment, and Sony's conference was lacking in punch.

In those circumstances, it's inevitable that Nintendo would get the most praise, but even then, they are not without their critics. From flat out lies about the the 3DS and its games (Eurogamer DF - "Starfox 64 3DS is a letdown, it looks EXACTLY like the original, it has not been upgraded graphically", all it takes is a 30 second google search of the respective games to see just how wrong that is) to criticisms that Nintendo shouldn't be making 2D platformers as retail games, as they would only be cheap PSN/XBLA games if they were released on rival consoles (are we ignoring LBP now?). Is it wrong to call those critics out when they are either flat out wrong in the Starfox case, or purporting double standards on the retail 2D game point?

There are constructive criticisms out there as well though, and there's nothing wrong with those. They have received criticism for the 3D effect created by the 3DS being unsuitable for children under the age of 7, which is a fair criticism as it prevents a lot of kids out there from using the device as it's meant to be used until they hit a certain age, which could have a negative impact on the systems sales.

So basically, to say they have received blanket praise now and throughout their history, and never suffer criticism, be it constructive of fallacious, is quite simply a fallacy in itself.

Anyone whe says nintendo is hated on more than sony and ms is crazy.  Everybody hates ms for some reason or other. We just accept their flaws.  They are like ford they don't care about quality just price.  Any way anyone who thinks wii is fun is living hype.  Why play virtual sports at all or exercise indoors with a video game.  Go outside enjoy the fresh air.  It is better outside.

My bad for not explaining well, they got lots of critics on (E3) 2006 when they announced the Wii, but nowadays, 2010 and specially after the E3, people just seem to ignore these flaws. Besides that, there will always be haters in pretty much everything, so I ignored that really small minority when I wrote "gamerscritic-proof".

Hum, about your questions... I'll try to explain everything in this post.

#1 - I'm not the "Anti-Nintendo". I think I've explained on this thread but it doesn't matter. I just... hate the Wii. I hate its success. And yes, I know it's very common to read this kind of thoughts from people of my generation - hating things for no reason, or just going against the majority. The truth is, I really don't care who's the majority or not, what's popular and what it isn't. But you simply can't expect me to support a console that cost something around ~125$ (dollars) to be made and was sold for 250€(euros) on 2009, three years after its release. Did they give another controller? No. A retail game? No. Any games from WiiWare? Hell no. People say that it's the consumer that decides what's the fair price for a console. Well I say the consumer, being an impulse buyer, is a bloody idiot. Besides that, Nintendo games still are just as expensive as they were on it's release date. Well, I wouldn't be upset if it had the best games catalogue of the market... but it doesn't have TP support, even tho I'm willing to admit that if I re-bought a Wii, it would be for the FP games. Also, I'm not saying that all games are bad, but for me, the console doesn't deserve to be ranked first on this generation.

About Nintendo, I still love Pokemon just like anyone on this forum, and Mario games are pretty fun. Plus they've done good stuff for the gaming industry, hands down. I like the 3DS even tho I hate handhelds (I regret alot of buying the PSP day one). I'm not trying to look like the most unbiased person on this forum, or the most reasonable. It's just the way I think.

I love arguments, you're right on that. But lately Nintendo has become gamerscritic-proof. It seems like everyone is ignoring the flaws, even if these aren't major problems. And that's true! That's what I've been trying to say since the beggining.

And it's TugaNuno... guess I need an easier nickname...
