Forums - Microsoft - Milo & Kate getting "re-revealed" in july

http://www.vg247.com/2010/06/17/molyneux-milo-kate-to-re-appear-again-next-month

Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux has told VG247 that Milo & Kate, the studio’s Kinect-centric project, will be re-revealed next month.

Speaking to Patrick Garratt at E3 in LA last night during a Microsoft party, he told us that the title would reappear at TED Global in Oxford as part of a talk from him.

“So, it is in development, it still is in development.,” Molyneux told us when asked on the whereabouts of the game, and why it wasn’t on the showfloor.

“We’re continuing to develop it; it was decided not to show it here at E3. You know what I’m like, I would show it every day of the week. And actually, you when I look at it, I think there’s some smart reasons why we didn’t show it.

“Now, it is pretty amazing, it is actually on show to celebrities. But it is amazing, it’s ten times more amazing then you think it is. You can see it in July if you go to Oxford. Because I’m doing a talk at TEDGlobal on Milo in July.”

Find our full interview with Peter Molyneux here. Kinect releases on November 4 in the US with 15 launch titles.

Cool Story, cannot wait to see more of what they are doing with this tech!

  Kinect! who needs video games!

How amazing do you think Milo is?...

It's ten times more amazing than that.

Man, if MS showed off Milo then their E3 press conference would be so much better.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Should be a really cool adventure game.  A member of the press on GAF mentioned seeing Milo getting sucked into a Portal when he went to the Lionhead offices a while back.

This is a good bit of the interview:

VG247: How pleased are you that Kinect has finally been announced? Obviously, you are a huge ambassador for the system.

Peter Molyneux: You know, I’m going to say some really positive things here. The huge problems that Microsoft and their technical team solved is just an outstanding feet. And really, that technical team, who aren’t getting any press or any recognition, really deserve a medal, because they took one of the hardest problems to solve and they actually solved it. And it works. It works well.

And the experiences that you see at launch are good, they’re robust and they work. But I would encourage you and the whole world not to think of those experiences to define what Kinect is. It just gives you a glimpse of the future. I think that those launch titles are great, but the second wave of titles is where the real greatness comes.

Also Fable still has Kinect functionality, which was under question since you cannot sit to play(which would be inconvenient for a controller oriented game), and since it was a no show.

VG247: You’ve said that you built Kinect functionality back into Fable. You said that quite early on. That’s still the case, clearly?

Peter Molyneux: Yes, it is. It’s another thing that was chosen not to show at E3, or not to really comment about.

Awesome. And Fable 3 has Kinect use.

Cant wait for the 2nd wave of Kinect games either.

Good news!  I'm interested to see what Kate and Milo will be like.

Milo is perhaps the most critical title for the technology. All the other titles pale in comparison to the value of this single game, because this game is the true killer app. This is the game that can expand the market beyond the casual without also sacrificing the hardcore, core, or casual markets. This is the game that can totally redefine educational software, and can effectively corner from cradle to the grave. This is a game that is good for very young children that can't be trusted with a controller, and more then that it is actually proactive software. A two year old doesn't have to engage Milo. The game will actively engage the child in a social manner.

That my friends is every parents wet dream a game that will play with, and teach their children. The fact that it will also be for a console that the rest of the family can use. Well thats going to be what is called a decider. All Microsoft needs is for this game to play as advertised, because if it does your going to see it on every morning show, and advertised on all the preschool programming blocks.

Milo could be the game that totally redefines the dynamic, and allows Microsoft to corner a market that basically has gone untouched by the other two big manufacturers. Which is the other console market in the toy section which is all about educational consoles and electronic devices. Which is actually a fairly large market to be had already. Once they nab them just out of diapers well Microsoft will probably have severe product loyalty.

This was a really notable omission from e3 - I'm glad to hear that it's still in production as this really demonstrated the possibilities of Kinect more than anything else displayed.  Though I am fearful as the scope seems so impossibly large for this to meet people's expectations - I mean of course he's going to repeat lines of dialogue and actions and you won't be able to scan any image for him to recognise, but it was still such a great glimpse of the future.

the 10 times better than what you think was a kind of worrying thing to say by peter molyneux, lets think back to fable 1, BUT the guy is a dead set legend and i think milo and kate will be good BUT what i am wondering is what the f are they gonna do with it.

Playing with a boy does sound right... surely this will only be a small bit of it.... this is probably why it wasnt shown, they probably still dont know where it is going perhaps?
