Forums - Sony - After Nintendo 3DS info release :should Sony put their ip's on 3DS

Don't underestimate what the PSP2 can be. The PSP is really Sony's first official handheld (ignoring PocketStation, that didn't count), so really they gained a lot of information on what they can do to the PSP2 to be better then the PSP, I mean the PSP sold about 60 million units, that's amazing considering the competition.

And it's pretty much guaranteed  Sony made a lot of money off the PSP, the PSP2 will do just as good. Nintendo isn't going to be the king of handheld forever, I see this ending soon, whether it's the PSP2 or something else.

Not to mention the DS get's pirated almost as much as the PSP,  so it'd just be a waste to invest time and money to make games on it that probably wouldn't sell that great in the first place considering the market.

Such an odd OP...were you being sarcastic?

It seems you have a problem with being proven wrong in a discussion (refering to the other threads dealing with the PSP2). You just have to accept that this happens from time to time, then acknowledge that the other guy was right and move on. So not the drama.

Not really. Plenty of people have no problem to concede points and you can see how a debate continues and keeps being interesting to read. Those guys get along just fine even if they favor different companies.

Well, concerning the subject of the PSP2, it really doesn't look good for Sony. It was known since months that Nintendo planned to launch a DS successor this fiscal year and so far Sony didn't make a response. Worse, the 3DS does look to be all that. At this point the only thing that could stop it would be a high launch price, in other words self-sabotage from Nintendo.

is just because Nintendo releases One handheld game system that may be nice and I like it also.

That Sony is not going to do something about it and that they sold 50 million plus system's, that btw no other company has ever done that in direct comp. with Nintendo in the hand held space.!

Nintendo does have a great track record as of late. So does Apple. Sony not so much.

We have seen what Nintendo is going to do and it seems they are good to go. We have a good idea what Apple is going to do and they also seem to be good to go. We don't know what Sony is going to do.

Based on the above it's very likely that Nintendo's and Apple's positions are going to get stronger while Sony's going to get weaker. In the past few years Sony has been unable to compete against Nintendo and Apple. That may change, but there are no signs that it will in the near future. Sony doesn't seem to be ready to move yet and once they will, it's probably too late already.

Yes, that's a lot of doom and gloom, but is it unjustified?

the point is Sony moving into the Smartphone market is a lock and i will tell you why.

CEO:Tim Schaaff over at Sony

and also SE  already went on the record stating there is a PSPphone on the way.

already the xperia10 being the best selling DOCOMO smart phone sales wise and just so happen's to be  an android Smart phone.

and the Xperia10 already has the Playstation software stack in the phone.

Now Sony could position the PSP as the gaming platform for the Android OS just like Windows OS is for the PC.

but no sony could not be doing that..the PSP no matter what is no longer Viable because Nintendo is releasing a Hand Held...lol

I hate how people simply degrade the PSP's success... Remove Nintendo handhelds and count how many systems have sold better than the PSP... just 4. And the PSP's pretty darn close to surpassing number #4. 60Million isn't a small number and it's SONY's first try in the market.
