It's a free country so Obama can compare the oil spill to whatever he wants. Just like I can compare him to a piece of shit if I want.

9/11 resulted in 3,000 deaths. In the two wars in the Middle East around 2 million people have been killed directly or indirectly from the wars. "You kill one of our people, we kill 1000 of your people."

 I'm not sure Nathan was trying to be racist, could just be an awfully bad choice of words.

9/11 resulted in more fire and war being used in reaction to a terroristy attack on US home soil. Racism and intolerance towards the Middle East intensified. Defense force and border protection policies were tightened worldwide. The governments worldwide stripped civil liberties and freedoms from its citizens in order to keep people safe from the terrorists.

The Gulf Of Mexico oil spill is a tragic environmental disaster. Hopefully action  will be taken to ensure such an incident like this never happens again. BP the evil oil company  who needs to pay for the clean up and damges to the US economy. BP needs to pay billions and billions in compensation and fixing up the environmental damage. All the US businesses that have collapsed due to the Oil disaster, need to be compensated by BP. Cost cutting and the lack of thorough inspections has allowed for this oil leakage disaster.

Crude oil does not break down and it will kill all the plant and animal life in the surrounding area. Fishing industries and tourism industries have been critically damaged. BP is a criminal corporation run by pirates and cowboys. Profits on crude oil sales are maximised by cutting corners and heavily reducing costs.  

 Hi Montana, fIrst of all I'm from England and I'm not "frightend" by the events of 9/11, I'm not going to lie it didn't bother me too much "personally" though it did shock me and i felt sorrow for the victims like everyone else.
I just thought that it was ill to use the events of 9/11 to compare an oil spill just out of pure "respect" he could have used a much better example.

The comment that Necromunda made about people should get over it did make me feel sick, I've lost plenty of relatives but all naturally, I could never imagine the pain of losing a loved one that's life had been taken away by terrorists, and telling people to get over this is not acceptable.

it was only 9 years ago,and that is a short time for a loss. The people of ireland have only just had names cleared from There inncoent loved ones killed on "bloody sunday"  and that was from the 1970's there was lots of joy and sorrow that day, would you agree thats its ok to tell them to get over it? after all it was along time ago.

Whether or not Obama was right to make the comparison, it was still stupid of him to do so, it seriously shows him being aloof to the views and emotions of the Americans he was elected to represent.

He was maybe a little bit indelicate, but the comparison is fitting, health issues will increase mortality in the Gulf, millions families there will have economic problems too, the environment received a deadly blow.

Immediate casualties make 9/11 a horrible day with very few comparable to it, but both short and long term effects will make the oil disaster a horrible event too. And in both cases innocents were, are and will be hit, just another analogy that should push the victims of both towards solidarity. Obama had good intentions in doing that comparison, nobody should try anything to put the victims of the two events against each other. Sowing discord just to hit Obama is nothing else than petty.
