This isn't meant to be an article. I just fucking ranted for a few minutes, and this is what I'll got. I might polish this post up later, especially when people criticize me, or ask for clarification/expansions.

Haha bringing economics into the debate, you know most people don't understand this at all, mostly because people choose to be ignorant an/or force a thought into their minds that they can't figure it out.

But I agree with the article don't be sold on what isn't there, really ask yourself if you want it because of what you know.

Honestly I really disliked the original infamous, I was not going to spend 60 dollars on it, there was no way, infamous 2 has a chance to do better but I must know more info, see more gameplay, and even then would likely want to play the demo first like I did for infamous.

I agree with your post but I don't agree with the article unless I missed something. If DICE advertised the DLC as something different then what they delivered that could be a problem.

OP if I had to spend hours digging for a couple of dollars I'd be pretty pissed too.

I skimmed the article but they DO claim some things are DLC when they are on the disc and the download simply unlocks them... but a lot of companies are doing this now, and downloading a code is still technically downloadable content, thats how the legal system would see it as well.

Eh I say this very often, I HATE DLC!  I think DLC is the worst thing to happen to the game industry simply because previous generations "DLC" would be either things that would be on the disc from the store and required you to do some crazy stunt to unlock a skin for your character, or be a patch on PC games that would give you the new game update as well.

That's simply how it worked and now it's about not only charging you 60 dollars a game but wanting to get even more by offering day one DLC that can be upwards of 10 dollars or more.

Lol... Economics and Psych 101 all in 1 thread!!! Win!!!

For the most part I agree.

However, just as a devils advocate to further debate(not that I believe in piracy), sometimes it can do wonders in promoting and expanding your market base depending on timing, location, accessibility to said product, etc.

Also, boycotting can make a big difference, economically to a country, company or person.  However you are correct, that boycotting also has its flaws as many times it is politically motivated.

This part: "THE ONLY ONES WE SHOULD HAVE TO SERVE ARE OURSELVES." I don't neccessarily agree.  I agree up to a point, however, if taken to an extreme, that path actually leads to anarchy both in capital materialism.

I'm lost. Maybe it's just because I don't pay attention to this game. Wasn't all of the Bad Company 2 DLC supposed to be free for the people with the new buyer code?

But it wasn't DLC.

I wouldn't even mind disc locked content, since there was a CD code for things like Rome: Total War.

But I HATE being lied to, as a consumer.

As for the Specat DLC, I was sold a crappy product, so I'm going to be more cautious now.

Economics:

If the price is too high you won't buy it

If you think the price is too high but you still buy it, the price really wasn't too high

:p

I'm still lost. When the game was coming out and the arguments of it against MW2 were being discussed, the BC2 super fans were arguing that with the new buyer code you would receive everything free they release as DLC add-ons. Where does what you're saying fit into that, because that's the extent of my knowledge regarding the game. Are they now charging new buyers for these new DLC packs or something?

We've been told that we will get new DLC for free. What we got were disc locked content, and still being charged for new content, and that new content being crap.

So, we've been lied to.
