Forums - Gaming - Why all of a sudden is Killzone a Killer App?

Well Lair , Heavenly Sword and Uncharted were also mega budget and heavily hyped games that didnt sell to expectations. I understand that they all may still hit a million sold over a long period of time, but they were supposed to have Gears of War type sales and move consoles.
Killzone have more developers and cost more then those games. If Killzone flops it will hurt Sony much more. The community will not forgive another flop^^

Yes Resistance has become VERY POPULAR here not just within PS3 people but many other people e.g who own a wii or 360

WANT to play & try out resistance....

& that Manchester Cathedral controversy HELPED RESISTANCE more than anything else..

My prediction for YEARS END:

WII - 18.3 Million

Xbox 360 - 15 Million

Playstation 3 - 8.5 Million

Im pretty sure that a game like Lair and Heavenly sword is more expensive than carnival games and all 3 of those games sold about the same. Killzone 2 is a huge gamble on a unproven IP with a unproven developer. Gears of War rode primarily on the fact that Epic was proven developer for shooters even though it was a new IP.

If I'm not mistaken, the first game was barely above average. I didn't know graphics had so much on how a game is received.

Graphics tell alot about a games budget. More budget means a bigger risk, so the fact it looks good is a big sign or almost a guarantee for a good game because of the risk. Good presentation is very important! The best way to present your game is either with great art-style or great visuals. That's what makes AAA games stand out of the crowd.

What was Uncharted suppose to sell?

I'll take the case!!!

I have the original KillZone on my PS2 and it was mediocre at best. KillZone 2? I wouldn't hold my breath. I could see if there was a demo or such for the public to play (it was supposed to be released when?!), but I would rather say Resistance 2 will sell systems faster than KillZone 2.

I really, really think it's a sad state of affairs when folks are saying "The PS3 is gonna be tha bomb and win this generation based on future games ..." and all of it is pure speculation.

Folks are talking about 2008 - let's talk about right now. Let's discuss lineups, let's talk about the current and what's going on now - a year after launch - instead of riding the hype train.

SMH at this one ...

More than 130k for sure. Im sure they wanted a steller launch for that game, maybe a 500k launch.

Well people are saying the Killzone 2 Beta will come in early 2008.

I'll take the case!!!

I think WARHAWK has been quite a success for them....1st party games wise

There are plenty of reasons why this game is hyped.

1.It looks fantastic.
2.It's won awards already.
3.It's got a huge budget
4.It's showcasing the power of the PS3
5.The developers are being very secretive about it.

All factors that contribute to the massive hype this game has.
