Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft conference: Press not happy

Eh, I found it kind of boring. Not a fan of Don Mattrick, and, it aggs me out when they get guest speakers to come out for ike 20 seconds. Like, Kojima, what the fuck was the point? I mean, really?

Reach looked good, ESPN looked pretty cool (US only, though), the kinect games looked lame (minus Harmonix's game), but the tech still looks promising.

tbh, ESPN's thing was the best presented part of the night.

Also, did anyone else notice how they had a lot of Asians demoing the Kinect stuff? I only noticed because they had the black guy up first and I remembered N'Gai's comments about Natal struggling with his black skin.

I'm reasonably sure that, despite what any of the companies were scheduled to show, Sony fans by deaulft would've chosen Sony as the winner. I would be surprised if Sony manages to have more surprises in its conference, given it has released information regarding a good number of its sequels already.

In my opinion, E3 isn't there to 'wow' us like an amusement park; it's there to showcase what these companies have planned for the [near] future. I don't know about anybody else but the slimmed 360 is what I was waiting for, thus I am excited.

xbox 360

  • gears of war 3
  • fable 3
  • halo reach
  • new crytek game
  • epsn deal
  • timed exclusive content on COD games
  • natal
  • redesign 360
its not that bad

I thought the conference was crap at first but looking at this list i notice that the 360 did have a decent show.

Plus some of the kinect stuff like forza and joyride looked cool.

End of 2012 prediction:

xbox 360 : 73-75 million  playstation 3 : 72-74 million  wii : 104-105 million

Most hyped for :

Bioshock: infinte, The Last Of Us, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Agent

In fairness, Microsoft in particular rejects this idea: they hosted a Cirque-du-Soliel event for their platform, and they routinely invite celebrities to pimp their stuff on-stage.   There very much is a circus element to current E3.

I think  MS conference proves that MS doesn't infact "care" about hardcore gamers as their fans claim. They only care about making money. They simply go where the money is. Right now, they see the money at motion control games with Kinect.

The tragedy is however, the quality of these Kinetic games looks nowhere near the quality of Wii's games. They look extremely boring and look like nothing Wii hasn't already done. Because of this, the sales will reflect the quality. So now, MS risks not only missing the boat with the expanded audience, but angering the core gamers as well, which is where the vast majority of their sales come from. MS could be in trouble after this conference.

So the new crytek, reach, fable, forza kinect, GoW3 footage, rising lets not forget Crackdown 2 the CoD agreement means they are ignoring the hardcore.

How dare they like Sony and Ninty want to make money

Yeah but.. we already knew about most of these games. I saw NOTHING new at the MS conference that I would be interested in. MS has shown their focus for the FUTURE is Kinect, and judging by the look of the quality of the Kinect games, that's not a good thing.

Not saying it's bad they want to make money..Obviously every company does. Just saying that they aren't fighting this noble cause to appease the hardcore gamers at the expense of losing money. At the end of the day, like everyone else, money is #1, and if that means a new casual focus, that's what they will do.

Really you didn't see them? or the new kinect games? or the fact they are taking xbl to every country the xbox is sold in?

And thus the hardcore gamers fell rejected and alone.  Well, Sony fans are next tomorrow with Move being a large focus I'm sure.

Personally, I did not think it was that bad.  There are quite a few games I am interested in that they showed.  The only problem was there was no one annouchment that was a megaton.

Remember, magic is just stuff science has not made boring yet.

Oh right.

I guess it takes one to understand one eh Rol

To be honest he's done his usual boo ms act and doesn't like the fact he's been called out on it and i didn't back down. One of us was in damage control mode.

Wonder if this will be the general feeling?

that video was short and to the point

As a matter of principal I'm sure he and others refused their free Xbox 360 slim.

doubt it. i don't like xbox and i would take it. i beleave thay are just nit picking. other than GRAW3, Fable and Halo reach it was mostly a casual experience. the press was looking for more what we would call hardcore games fro Kinect and the conference as a hole.

i still give it a B

And thats the problem. its e3 and thats what everyone automatically expects.

We've been spoiled by the big 3's previous one upmanship
